Mavrick sounds like a company I would love to work for, but I had a DUI in 1986 or 87, and I have a conviction of two felonious assaults in 1998 (I caught my exgirlfriend in bed with another man). Can anyone tell me if this kills my chance with Mavrick? Other then three or four speeding tickets in the past 35 years of driving, I have no other "history". I am also a newbie-wanna-be driver. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Honestly I don't think you would have a chance. They are pretty selective in their hiring process.

I honestly dont have a answer for you, but you do have some history, which U are being honest about. Being honest is very inportant. Being willing to change and learn from ones mistakes in the past is inportant.
And like no tarps said Maverick is selective, this is true.
    good luck in life guy.

I had a misdemeanor assault in 1997 and they were kinda iffy about it, but they did end up hiring me because of the circumstances. Having 2 felony's will probably disqualify you cause like 'notarps' said, they are very, very selective.

    Stevedb28,

I am looking into Maverick. I hear that they really are a good company to work for and I hear that they treat their people well and that they take care of their equipment. Is this true? How about pay; are you happy with the paycheck? Do you go to states that require tire-chains? I am interested in the southeast or RAT devision, I want to avoid Colorado during winter, any advice on which devision that does not do CO? Thank you for any information that you can provide.

We do not use tire chains and I have only went to CO once and that was 2 weeks ago. They do take good care of their equipment and I enjoy the home time and the pay checks.

OK so after reading this whole thread, notarps has gotten me putting in an online app with Mav. For the life of me I can't remember how I can refer you, but trust me, your honesty and committment to this thread is well worth whatever you may receive in the way of a referral bonus..lol. I live in south central OK, it appears I'm about 120 or so miles away from the mangum terminal. I'm newly single, as one other member put it......"unwilling midlife crisis participant" ....lol, my kids are grown, and I'd really like to spend some time on the road. I feel like the work of tarping would be a good way for me to keep the pounds off while out on the road. I don't think I'd mind the work, as long as I have to proper securement tools to do the job in accordance with my training that I'd receive. Finally, I don't know trucks at all, could you tell me exactly what type, i.e, make and model name so I can google it and take a look at what the interior looks like...lol. For some reason, I'm curious about what I may be living and working in...thanks and take care...............:biggrin_25514:

I run OK, but not a lot, yet there is another driver that lives in my area that goes there all the time. I have never been to the mangum term. I have heard a lot about it tho. They say it is a good place to go for service. They say they have a trailer there for a drivers lounge. We drive frieghtshaker columbia's

Your welcome! Good luck! I had a very good recruiter. She is no longer there, but she was very honest. I hated to see her go. I don't know any other recruiters, but have spoken with the manager of them several times. I have emailed him and he answered within minutes on a weekend. Sunday if I remember right. He must have been home. He is a very straight forward person. Everyone I have dealt with there has been very profesional. There are a few CSR's that I think need some serious direction, but other than that all the other people seem to care about their drivers. Matter of fact when you go thru orientation all the instructors will give you their personal numbers at home and their cells. They will tell you to call if you need help. Several times in class they would get a call and tell us to hang tight a driver needed help and they took priority.
