As I said, if one is leasing a truck, paying their own liability in other words, they are free to park where they like. I choose not to lease and they want their truck parked In a secure location. I leave it at a Purdue plant. One of out customers. Often it is a local KW or Pete dealer, sometimes a TK shop, sometimes a storage area. I used to leave it at a Service Center that was also the impound lot for Cecil County MD, but they moved and there was no longer a place to park it.

Anyway, if its an issue with you, this is not the place for you.

Who knew parking ya rig at home was such a big issue? It just tells everyone that you are home and more importantly NOT home and that 60" flat screen TV is their for the taking. I prefer to park in a secure yard and not have people know my movements around my home. There are far more important things to consider when choosing a trucking company than where the rig gets parked.

I didn't mean it like that Dryver. Just thought I might have to leave the truck in Texas at the hub and either fly or bus back to Phoenix to have a few days which really would be a huge inconveince since the hub is 1700 miles away that's all.

    Dryver Thanks this.

Ahh got it. Most companies will let you park it at a local dealer or local fenced yard close to home.

Most companies will leave it at the discression of your driver manager. If you have a decent relationship with your DM, you're more than likely going to be able to bobtail all the way home, save for a ban directly in the company policy. When I was at swift it was purely at the DMs discression. I never had an issue bobtailing home and only parked once at a dealership for my own convenience. Then again, I don't even keep sheets in my truck, let alone a TV. Use common sense, I guess...

It's a company policy at Stevens, if it is company equipmemt, it gets parked In a secure location. Leased, you can take it home. No DM discretion involved.

As a former lease driver, I took the equipment both tractor and trailer to my home town, and dropped both in a secure storage area, where I stored my personnel pickup... being single and all. While I was OTR, my home address was a private mailbox, why pay for an apartment that I was never at...

Living in the boon docks, stevens had NO approved parking, so I found one, sent them pictures, and the owner sent them a letter... never had a problem.

I had a hastle at first because I was the only one who had ever come to Stevens from Meridian, MS, an issue you won't have in Phoenix. The closest place for me the first hometime was in Jackson, over an hour and a half away. However, I was able to get a trailer repair place to be approved while I was at home that time and never had an issue since. I was only a company driver the first time I went home anyway, so the truck has always come home with me after that, but the trailer goes to a repair yard only a few miles from my house. As far as not wanting people to know when you are home or away, that is a valid argument depending on where you live. I live about 5 miles out of town on a few acres. I can put my truck in the barn, or by my house and no one would ever see it either way. It all depends on what your personal situation is like.

And there are those companies who write 'yes, you can take your truck home with you' when what they really mean is 'yes, you can take your truck home with you, but you must also take the trailer with you; they cannot ever be detached.'
