I am at 3+ years and only one late arrival, because I forgot about the time zone (since I normally only run an hour or two from the Chicago rail yards and that load went to Franklin IN). Instead of 45 minutes early I was 15 minutes late...

Even maintained my on-time record during the Chicago's last, worst driving winter seen in decades!

Dispatch AND load planners must know they can count on the driver to make both OTPU and OTD. If you prove yourself you CAN get awesome miles. Whine, complain, turn down loads, show up late on a regular basis....yep, all mile killers.

I am L/P. Why do you ask?

 

I was asking because I applied to KLLM for there refresher course and was considering L/P. Can you tell me how that is working for You?

 

I like what I do and so my answer would be "it works wonderful for me". But, in this industry what works for one does not always work for another.

My advice to you is this....BEFORE you decide to go lease do your homework. Know what the lease says, know what your bottom line is to run the truck (not how much everyone tells you it is), understand the commitment you are about to make and what it means to you and your family, understand this is a business, YOUR business, and you must know what it takes to make it successful. And that is just a start. If you have only been driving a year (or less) I suggest you go company first. Learn this industry and how to drive a little better "on the companies dime", THEN think about starting your business.

i was thinking about going to refresher course and drive for kllm. how long do you have to be company before they allow you to go l/p?

 

Cardinal Logistics has a good deal; it's a purchase program, not a lease-purchase. The truck is in your name, not the company name.

 

You do not have to drive as a company driver before you enter the lease program.
