I assumed it's become less common since I've been a driver. I did have one jive turkey approach me at the flying J in Salt Lake City when I first started driving, insisting he should polish my wheels. Tell em "no cash" they usually buzz off.

I thanked you for this post. I got nailed twice in NW ND. I have been trying to brain storm up an a idea like that. I want a video camera along with you idea of a motion sensor light. I don't want one with an alarm that would go off whenever my neighbor for the night got in or out of his/her truck. Just a light that comes on and also starts recording video. Although they could spray paint it and still steal my fuel anyway.
ND wind will rock the truck, so I have to be able to put that out of my head in order to sleep.

...and then they call the cops, you get arrested, they hire an attorney, you get sued for everything you've got.

Unfortunately, in too many places it is illegal to deter criminals by setting booby traps. Heck, guy breaking into your home trips on your kid's toy on the living room floor and sprains his wrist and he sues you and your homeowners insurance for everything he can get. The world just ain't right these days...

Upright don't know me so well. My Grandpa who raised me, asked two things of me. 1). Do not get on that darn dope. 2). Do not steal. I couldn't let him down in both departments, so I built a strong hate for thieves. LOL! I do not call the cops if I'm right there...got other things to do. I'm not asking you to believe me.
OH, OH, that was your truck?:biggrin_25518: You know, in this day, and the price of fuel, you'd think all trucks would have locking fuel caps.
they got me for 100 gallons this summer, i called freightliner, they wanted $370/cap

kenworth sells theirs for $40 each

i figured, after 9 years, i will wait another 9yrs before someone gets me again, i aint paying $740 for two locking fuel caps,
I tell ya', the real crooks are the ones selling those locking fuel caps. Cheapest I found was $59.95 each up to $106 each.( $140 for the fancy "skull" locking cap) I suppose if it saves $800 dollars in fuel, it's worth it. I wonder if there's any way to electrify the tanks somehow.:biggrin_2551:
Now that's a good idea if they spill any fuel it will blow the truck up and they get no fuel.:yes2557:
