Anyone out there got access to a Kenworth with an 86 inch sleeper and a tape measure?
What I wanna know is if it really is 86 inches from the back of the driver seat to the back of the sleeper wall. If not, how many inches is it???

I have owned the older style KW 60" aerodyne modular and now own a 72" aerodyne and to me they are exactly the same in terms or roominess.
Therefore, IMO, that 86" translates to about the same roominess as a 74" modular would ( if there was such a thing) -
My understanding is that KW measures differently, not sure from where to where exactly. I have always been told that the KW studio is the same size as the Volvo 780. Having been in both, i'd say they are very close. It comes down to which layout you like best. I prefer the studio myself.

Did you ever get an answer on this?

I dont know the exact measurement,.. but I have been in both, 72" T660 and 86" T660. There is considerably more room in the 86". The first you you notice in the 86" is the floor space from the edge of the bed to the back of the seats. I put a mattress from a double bed on top of the couch bed and left it down. The couch bed itself was horrid to sleep on.
I'm currently in a Columbia with 70" sleeper and while its ok in here. I personally liked the 86" sleeper the best in terms of roominess. I used the top bunk and and bins for plenty of storage. As a matter of fact,.. I am seriously considering looking at buying a late model T660 with the 86" Studio as my next truck for me personally. No other truck really does it for me. I really like the 386 Pete,.. but they lack the larger sleeper. The KW will be heavier,. but I can offset that with an all aluminum trailer and still haul what I do now. This is just my personal preference. Yours and others may prefer something different. I would suggest taking a look inside and getting your own opinion.

Unless I'm mistaken no truck manufacturer measures sleepers by interior floor space. They use the distance from where the inside wall of a day cab version would be to the exterior of the back of the sleeper.

Spyder is correct I have a 72 inch Aerodyne and had the same question about the true measurement. I got under the sleeper and measured from the back is the sleeper to the front where it meets the cab and it's exactly 72'

You can measure any way you like
I plan to custom build my studio sleeper myself
From front floor drop (at center ) to rear wall center
Then side wall to side wall center to center
Square it off and cut a template for the front corners
Anyone interested in the same and have ideas I would
