Owners son decided to be proactive and had all the trucks turned down to 63 from 70 so i quit as soon as i got to the yard in az and went to a 30 truck company 10 minutes from home.

    Quit jb hunt
    1) forcing me to drive in adverse weather when i84 is shut down and signs saying no semis allowed.
    2) putting an incidental accident ( hitting a snowmound in Long Island) without a police report on my dac
    3) having a 26 yr old unqualified clueless never driven a truck before idiot as a manager
    4) vindictive, backstabbing, untrusting corporate culture with us vs them mentality
    5) failure to maintain equipment
    6) preferential treatment of day guys vs night guys - we are all the same

i put up with it for a year.

Driver retention will continue to be a problem -

It was miserable. And I still am quite angry with them; the lasting effect is I don't believe any company's statements about "putting drivers first" and I stopped trusting a DM, no matter how experienced. I don't put myself in the position of depending on another human being. It's sad and true.

I was so tempted but I knew the permanent damage of having an "abandoned load" on my DAC.

Was with one company for almost 12 years. The main company sold our plant, and the guy that bought it was only interested in making the most money the cheapest way he could. No raises, equipment was getting bad, and band aids weren't getting the job done any more, poor management. The drivers there now are making less than I was over 3 years ago.
Went to another place, was there 2 weeks, HATED THE JOB, and also was lied to about a few things. Went to 3rd company, decent place, liked what I was doing, money good. But then former supervisor from job 1 told me about an opening for a driver where he now worked.
Applied and got it. and haven't looked back 2.5 years later. Perfect place to work? Far from it. But they kept every promise that they said they would, truly open door to managers to discuss problems, been some pay increases, so far the good outweighs the bad. If, and when that changes, I'll move along.

I was OTR with JB for a year out of Emporia Va. I got fed up with the nit picking and cronies. I got back to the terminal one time and completed the usual home time truck turn in at the shop. My print out said that I had 36 rapid decelerations in the 3 weeks I was out. The safety guy at the terminal was just short of waterboarding me during his interrogation. My driver manager was a nice young lady and she went right into his office and said.......NO WAY. I went down to the shop and asked the supervisor how a rapid-decel registered on the print out. He said that it took a 9 mph decel over 2 seconds or some thing like that. He said that they get a lot of that if the tractor was doing any bob tailing on rough asphalt and slowing for a stop sign/red light. The sensor reads the driveline........ and the Cabover tires will leave the ground for a split second making the tires chirp while braking on rough asphalt. He said they get higher readouts than that all the time for city drivers. The safety guy wrote me up and told me to sign the paper......... I told him he had a better chance of getting rain water in hell. I got 3 weeks off as a punishment. I spent the 3 weeks out on the bay fishing, and looking for a new truck. I eventually ended up over at Schneider as a IC.

I have quit jobs for poor treatment, last company I quit was based out of Denver,CO mother in law past away, I had a load of beer going to Cali. load went threw my home, Called to get the delivery date pushed 2 days, or to repower, was told I couldn't have the two day to help my wife, an only child, her mother was her last surviving blood relative, The word for words that was told to me was "I told you about that load, You can't tell me you're not going to delivery, you're going to have to keep going, I can't have that truck sitting for a week" at this point I just hung up the phone, Yes I remember every word that witch with a capital B said, burned into my mind for ever, how can anyone be so thoughtless when a family member passes...
