9MPG, is that possible?

so will that company actually pay you WELL to tolerate driving that truck? 58 mph everywhere you go? now many realistic miles can you drive at that speed and actually get somewhere?

drive for a few cents less per mile,drive something closer to an actual truck(even if it only runs 65),and get more miles and less stress than driving 58 mph all day every day week in and week out.

my 5.8 to 6.00 mpg isn't all that bad in the grand scheme of things because it is an actual truck. but then that is only my opinion and i am grizzled and set in my ways.you new breed guys have a completely different attitude regarding that which is tolerable and that which is not.

 

I am paid well for driving my 57 to 58 mph. When you pay for your own fuel it's a nice little bonus every load. I stopped driving like a company driver and started running my business.

 

I think that company pays me with the experience I'll need and with a sense of responsibility. Do they pay in dollars and cents very well? Meh, it's not great. For now okay with what I have and have plans to "get bigger."

Until I'm ready to make a move though, it pays just fine.

 

Fuel is cheap today. Drive it like you stole it. Tomorrow is different.

 

cool.elated that you are happy and well paid. hopefully you validated yourself with the above post. that which you consider to be "paid well" may pale in comparison to other drivers pay and they pay for their fuel as well. you'll grasp it all and if not, surely you will at least know a good bit more in another couple years.

I was getting 8.4-8.6 weekly average running flatbed with an EVO 62-65mph. That's just setting the cruise and letting it go.

The cruise is kinda "soft" as it will let the speed drop a few mph to keep the turbo pressure below 20 psi. I think it also controlls how much power is available based on how heavy the load is.

Now it's having problems and is really gutless so it's been a fight to get 7's.


I think if you had a stock truck without any of that company bean counter settings that try to compensate for the worst drivers 9+ wouldn't be that hard.

 

Actually I can profit .10 more per mile at $3.79 fuel compared to $2.79
