Point taken, but if companies got their drivers home on time and on a regular basis, there would be no need for drivers to lie or make up stories in order to get home. There's too many instances of dispatchers and companies not caring when it comes to a driver's home time.

The money comes from the freight customers pay to move. It doesn't come from the drivers and everybody knows it. Sure, we are the way that happens, but the standards are based on getting the stuff there on time. Fail and we take the hit. The bottom line is there is a line of drivers - a long line of drivers - standing behind everyone of us, waiting for an open seat.

I drove for a local company that delivered throughout NY and northeast PA. New policy stated I must drive the route as given by the new trip planner (boss's daughter). She would use MapQuest and kept sending drivers on roads with weight limits, no trucks allowed, or low bridges. Then company wouldn't pay any tickets the drivers got. Left before I got caught by LEO.

I woulda said eff you right then and there. You can't keep your promises then neither can I. Maybe you're a bigger person than I am but as soon as a company tries to eff me over like that the truck goes back to their terminal and I see my way home.
This is why I don't do forced dispatch OTR or regional work anymore. You already don't have much home life as it is. Then they try to screw you over and your only option is to let them bend you over their desk or quit. Not much happy medium there.texasbbqbest Thanks this. -
The only trucking job i left after a short period of time (about 7 months) was because i was not getting paid on time.
the last trucking job i quit they treated me very well and paid me very well and i liked the job only reason i quit was to go to work for the biggest ####### out there (myself) -
thats a fine example of a company who needs your (everybody's) resignation as soon as possible. any time they let somebody who's never driven a truck and doesn't know anything about them to speak of call shots like that to cheap out and pinch pennies is one that is surely swirling the drain and will take you down with it.

You say that like it's something to be proud of. With a history like that it's no surprise you can't get a decent paying job.Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this.

I quit my good company job to buy my own truck. The good? I didn't have to haul those darn eggs anymore. The bad? I was totally unprepared for being an O/O.

Man , 70 posts and I'm gonna be the only one to say it took 33 years and retirement to get me to quit a job. Did quit 1 other one , an OTR job running c to c , left that to go to GSF. I'm one of the lucky ones I guess.
texasbbqbest, tinytim and wore out Thank this.
