Why Did You Quit- Why Do Drivers Quit

    I quit my last job because I had 5 trucks in 6 weeks. It was a bigger company so I figured 1 truck would be good but they all had regen or Def problems. Last one was a 2012 kw, sweet ride but dpf problems. Finally said enough and quit driving all together for a bit.

    Nah Victor , just got really lucky. I was in the exact right place , at the exact right time , and knew exactly the right girl ( my sister had a friend in the HR dept. at GSF ). Not to say I didn't quit 100's of times while working a difficult load , or dealing with an idiot kid / store manager , cause I did. But I always talked myself out of it before getting back to the yard.

    I quit because of the way they treated me and other drivers...lies...late pay...late expences...bad service for trucks...little home time...

    Around here you can have as much time off as you want because I don't want a pissed off driver on the road. Heck I don't even need a reason. If you make yourself part time then yes, you may have to slip seat but usually when I bring that up they start to work more.

    One thing I absolutely will not tolerate is a dropped load. Take the time off you need but if you say you're doing the load you do the load.

    Never dropped a load or been late unless broke down....flew 5000 miles to work for this company as did many others....treat drivers who work with respect not contempt....were all innit to get a better life for family....

    I left because of this -- Starved out!

    I was caught in politics between my owner and the company. He started transferring trucks from the company to another carrier. Company decides to be petty and starve drivers out by brokering out loads instead of sending them to qualified trucks. Then they kept us in the trash can by sending things on Thursday or Friday which can't deliver until Monday of the following week. This removed any chance of salvaging miles for the week. When calling in, Dispatch would act surprised the truck is 'there,' or would act as if we didn't run for them anymore. I used to think this was a unique experience to me, but I found out they were hosing all the drivers under this owner. Add to this, they also didn't pay any of my settlements for work performed after 12/21/2014. They kept claiming they didn't get the paperwork, which I scanned after every run and I still have the confirmation receipts in my email.

    I turned in the truck and took Amtrak home on 01/20. Since then, I've been temping and applying for jobs.

    i never agreed with splitting my pay from one country to the next. (0.38 cnd miles 0.42 usa miles) pay me what im worth or take a hike its not up to me where my loads take me.

    Poor comunication between all levels of the office with each other and their drivers no one ever seemed to have the same idea of whats going on

    going overseas to get drivers then takeing advantage of those drivers. you wouldnt need to if you treated us like a person not a number

    every time i came in my dispatcher was yelling and cussing and pulling what was left of his hair out.

    when i was on vacation truck was listed by management to not be used but then was any ways and a huge mess was left and some of my things missing.

    no 2 week notice heres the keys my ##### already cleaned out.

    The last guy that quit was here almost 3 yrs. He started when his wife went back to school and shortly after she graduated he started taking days off. Keep in mind he was home 5-7 nights a week and never worked weekends but he still found reasons not to work during the week......Not feeling well, trans went out on the wife's car, trans went out on his pickup, had to bring wife's stuff back from college, had to re-roof a buddy's gazeebo, wife's car caught on fire in his driveway, too much snow to get out of his driveway, had to move his son, had to feed the horses, had to feed the dogs, had to take the chickens to the slaughter house, etc etc.

    It got kind of comical after a while we kinda kept him around to see what the next excuse would be. It was all OK until one day he showed up to work at 09:00 when he was supposed to leave the yard at 06:00. He told someone he didn't feel like working that day. I said tell him I'll be right there to fire him in person. Before I walked 250 ft he was gone in a cloud of dust. He finally found the right button to push.

    This is the same driver that begged not to be fired after he took out a trans, a front rear diff and hit another truck in a truck stop all in his first month on the job. That was before he was a kept man LOL.
