Because people like to see other people fail, it's like they secretly want you to. It's pretty sad. At the end of the day it only matters if the driver is happy, that's it. For a lot of guys leaseing a truck is there only way of walking through the door of becoming an owner operator, there is nothing wrong with that.
Many guys aren't in the position to have a truck financed, because of bad credit or many other factors, im included in this category and im either getting my truck through lone mountain or SNI, both of which I would be LEASING. It doesn't bother me I love when people want to talk **** if nobody is talking crap then your doing something wrong, if you got people throwing it at you, then your doing everything right.

I'm a couple months in and here's how my current work week is looking (rates are including deadhead, all miles etc)
Scottsville, Ky to Jeffersonville, IN to Terre Haute, IN
286 all miles at $1.56
Terre Haute, IN to Saint Peters, MO
194 all miles at $1.64
Saint Peters, MO to Edwardsville, IL to Louisville, KY
306 all miles at $1.44
Louisville, KY to North Vernon, IN
80 all miles at $3.98
North Vernon, IN to Seymour, IN to Martinsburg, WV
539 all miles at $2.11
Martinsburg, WV to Breiningsville, PA
171 all miles at $3.39
Breiningsville, Pa to North Bergen, NJ to Jefferson, GA
I'm on this load now but looks it will be about 930 all miles at $1.41
I haven't booked anything to do for Monday yet but looks like I'll take a load picking up in Atlanta going to Lebanon
Looks to be around 311 all miles at $1.67
So for a full work week about what am I looking at if I take that load tomorrow?
2,817 miles
Gross is about $5067 or nearly $1.80 all miles
-$1100 for fixed costs and roughly $1050 for fuel
Which leaves me left about $2900 for the week
That is if I take the Lebanon load after replying to this troll lol.
Bare in mind I spend lots and lots of time on the load board and usually only am booked one load ahead at a time.
Every time I stop, when I wake up etc I check the board.
Only by doing so have I gotten the good loads right when they popped up.
There are a LOT of bad leases out there and it's far more easier to fail
Celadon for example pays $1.17 all miles
http://www.driveceladon.com/leasepurchase/
all mileage leases are pretty much a scam rip off that pay garbage.
If you take my same fixed and fuel costs over 2800 miles and did it for $1.17 all miles I'd be left with something like $1,100.
A Celadon lease is one where unless you are always running you risk doing barely pulling by.
There ain't much breathing room at $1.17 all miles lol.
Freaking TranScam pays .84 a mile plus fuel http://www.transamtruck.com/Leasing-Services/About-TransAm-Leasing
lol I'm not even....
There are many terrible paying leases out and O/O jobs out there.
So people make blind assumptions about all lease companies are bad based on zero facts.
We get paid % here and we pick our own loads and way around the country. Big difference. Plus most all are open window and tons of drop and hook.
There are great loads that come on the board but they get taken real quick, I'm learning that which is why I'm on here a lot.
You don't want to preplan a whole week based on leftovers.. sure you can do that but I found
for hot loads to pop up works better for me so far.

I'm with ya on all counts...I'm seriously thinking Lone Mountain as well when my lease is up in May. I posted earlier that I have been on choice for 8 months, actually it's been 9. Been having so much fun, I lost a month somewhere
mickimause, T_TRUCKER⢠and TennMan Thank this. -
Im not hating on anybody i hope everybody makes it and does good leasing and yes Schneider has one of the better leases out there it just wasnt for me id rather save up and buy an older pre emissions truck and pay cash for it running paper logs to each their own btw i never did a lp thought about it was approved through sfi but wasnt worth the risk to me i wish all you guys the best honestly.
freightwipper Thanks this. -
There is risk every time you get out of bed in the morning. With half a brain anybody can do fine here.
I haven't found anybody unhappy being an IC here.. nor found anybody say they went broke which says a lot and a part of the reason I came here.
If you can't do well here it's your own dang fault. I have one of those "huge truck payments" supposedly but yet I am earning more money than ever in my life. This week I will double the $ I ever made being a company driver.
The craziest part is I didn't come here for the money, I came here for the lifestyle.. ease and freedom. I can have an easy week here and enjoy myself and still make more money than when I was a company driver killing myself and having zero life.
There's nothing wrong with buying an older pre emission truck, financially it's worked out for a lot of people.
I thought about that.. but I also thought also I sleep, eat and work in a truck most of my life. This isn't just a "tool for a job" it's also my office, my home and my bedroom and that's the reason I got a new Kenworth.
Enjoying myself, comfort, freedom and peace is more valuable to me than making the most money possible. When I was killing myself at Shaffer, working off crappy sleep (flipping sleep schedules to make "appointments") and my lifestyle sucked I wondered.. even I was was earning 100k a year would I be happy here? The answer was no.
After all this is a lifestyle, not just a job.. why not extract the most you can out of the lifestyle and enjoy it. Here at Schneider.. picking my own loads off a board, paid % go pretty much where ever whenever I want and having soo many loads that are drop and hook with open windows I can do that. Where else is all that possible? Nowhere I know of.
:smt035T_TRUCKER⢠and popcorn169 Thank this. -
I'm narrowing my options down to a few, I may possibly just do the 1 year on the cascadia and keep saving my money, I wish those petes and KW had the cummins. Are the freightliners 10spd or 13?
-
it's el cheapo company spec so 10 speed lol.
The one year lease is a good deal because well it's a one year lease. You can get out of it after one year and lease another brand new truck right after if you want.
What other company offer a one year lease to test the waters?
Only thing that sucks is it's a company spec freightshaker lol
Whatever you do remember you can make the money back real quick with those couple weeks of no payments and those tax incentives I told you about.
When ATBS told me the IRS considers my $5k down a business expense so the first 5K I earn I owe no taxes on that made me feel better.T_TRUCKER⢠and popcorn169 Thank this. -
I swear s.e.m stinks no they down right are awful. Broken emergency air line on trailer and it's been 2 hours and still no word on eta.
-
Hey im glad your happy and doing well and i hope everybody who leases with sfi does well at least two people here on this forum didnt make it.
