I was taking the exit off of Sheldon goin back to the yard and saw a ton of lights then I saw the Cascadia laying over... this turn has a slant to it. I'm assuming he was trying to make the light and the load took over frm there
Officials will have vent the gas from an overturned truck in Elk Grove on Tuesday afternoon, so people in the area are told to expect a large plume to arise from the situation, crews said.
The truck, carrying liquid nitrogen, crashed near Highway 99 -- prompting the closure the highway's ramps and Sheldon Road.
Officials aren't able to offload the gas.
The Elk Grove Police Department plans to send out a Reverse 911 call to let people in the area know about the venting gas.
Ramps will likely be closed past 5 p.m., crews on scene told KCRA 3.
There is no immediate threat to public safety. The tanker is not leaking.
The Cosumnes Fire Department and the Sacramento Fire Department are handling the call.
Elk Grove officers are warning drivers to expect traffic delays along the busy roadway and highway.
The venting will take about two hours to complete, fire officials said. The vapor is nontoxic, nonflammable, and poses no hazards to the public or environment, Cosumnes Fire posted on its Twitter page.
Venting of the product will create a water vapor cloud when the cold product contacts moisture in the air

watching it on the news -- it just started shooting a ton of nitrogen straight out the back -- dunno if they opened a different valve or whether something froze and cracked.
its empty now. Company logo says CTI -
They opened it up. Because they couldn't unload it
-
Bet they have an ad in the paper tomorrow. Looking for a new driver.
-
Yeah it had a maybe 1" discharge going vertically for quite a while (like in the photo), but later they either opened a 3-4" valve at the back or something broke because it started venting a massive plume straight out the back and across the intersection instead of up into the air.
-
Probably opened the loading valve. It's low and in the center. Take forever using that other rig.
Don't know why they didn't stand it up.....has eyelets on 4 corners just for this reason. You can see one it the bottom photo.
CTI....didn't Keenan buy them along with JBK ? -
What's the value on a loaded tank of nitrogen?
-
Probably a lot cheaper than the trailer. That tank is well into six figures.
chalupa Thanks this. -
Every time I pass one of those trucks I can't help but think of T2.
icsheeple Thanks this. -
Possibly "safety", and/or expediency, I imagine. A wrecker might roll it back on the tires, or all the way over. I think it'd take a pretty decent crane to do it "right".
