Well there is a few answers to your question that I would like to help everyone out with. Yes you do need certain lengths as for your jumper for the amp. they are in 3 foot lengths.your main coax is 18 foot. any thing different is absolutely wrong. 468 divided by the frequ 27.1850 comes to 17.21 feet. By the numbers and the average antenna this is the length so we round at 18'. you can go shorter and you can go longer, but that is only tricking a meter to read good. This is not what you really want. I have been with radios and building amps since I was 6 years old and I am 47 years old now. so that is a long time.I started doing this to help truckers. CB shops are always crapping on people and everything. But I guess that is the way things goes. as far as the input power that you may run into the amp that really depends on the build and so forth of the amp. you are not dealing with texas star and so forth and 99.9% of those so called CB Shops has no idea. But check this out. if you have problems you can txt me across at 478-213-5490 and tell me who you are and I will get back to you . Later gator! Dare Devil.

Get yourself a Texas Star DX-500V. Very nice amp. I am using it for the last 6 years---no problem.

DARE DEVIL.......With that theory(gonna use another members basic ideas here)what if a guy needs 20 ft of coax to reach his ant from radio?? What about the ham guys with 50 foot towers??..What if a guy only needs 6 ft of coax for his day cab????

I have used as short as 5 to 6 ft. co-phased ( from center of cab to mirror and 18 ft. with the excess stuffed in the ceiling, made no difference. Make it easy on yourself. I run a Fatboy 550-600, 3 pill.

I agree, the only time I worry about exact cable length is building arrays, the interconnecting harness affect the phase of the antennas in the array. I had on guys amp that was staying keyed, changed the jumper and it fixed, some kind of wierd capacitance problem that there was no reason to over think.

Don't put yourself out worrying about coax length. Some folks get way to tied up with electrical engineering theories and can;t see the real world. And then, some people, and one tech admitted to me, they sell more coax with that idea. duh.

Albert..in a cpl messages up you have me quoted as sayin coax length matters in a kicker..I dont remember sayin that..

I didnt go back to look but if i did say it i musta been sayin it in a sarcastic sence..

I have yet to see ANYTHING that says coax length matter in my aarl ant book ot the huge thick book that covers a ton of stuff..

Length only matters to women..lol Even so we all know its a myth..

Got a Texas Star 667V. $250.00 + shipping. Works good. It's kinda ugly on the outside.
