I agree Oscar , the op did the right thing. I had this a couple of times and we always came to an agreement,im not giving the key to anybody. Some of these ideas they come up with are off the wall. POP used to refer to them as educated idiots , lol. Proof that piece of paper meand nothing.
Shippers and receivers are wearing me out !!!!

Petro/TA have a policy of taking your key and putting it with a tag on your truck mirror. I was at a Petro and the mechanic took the tag and zip tied it to the mirror without the key. When I asked if he wanted the key, he told me all he needed was the tag, besides every driver has another key in his pocket any way. Let's face it, once you lock the red airline that trailer isn't going anywhere. Most places I've ever been to that wanted my key knew I had a spare and didn't even verify that I gave them my truck key.

Hey whaddya know, I learned something from that OSHA 10 hour course afterall...Big_D409 Thanks this. -
Most places that want me to hand over the keys are usually ok with unhooking and pulling forward .
when I have handed over my keys I love the look on there face when they come back out and I have my second set of keys in the ignition with the truck runningDrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
My thing is I don't care who you are, I'm not going to be locked out of my truck. I used to keep a key in the ignition, one in my pocket, and one in my boot under my sole insert thing just in case. Last time I locked my keys in the truck was two years ago working for roehl at a customer where no one was there and it was snowing....

Easy solution..........tell the shipper/receiver that truck won't start if you shut it off.
Simple!
