The cameras were just announced last week, if the turnover rate was higher last year wait till next year. The cameras alone will have a huge impact on recruiting new drivers and losing current drivers. As it is they have a $3500 sign on bonus to bring in company drivers, how much more will it take now?

Sorry. .I gave the impression drivers were beating the gates down leaving. .my bad
Saw Long Haul trucker had left. .I delivered yesterday and talked briefly with another owner op that's leaving..
I apologize, I did not mean to start a false rumor.
That being said, all drivers are pretty much cut from the same mold. .We enjoy being alone, we don't like direct supervision. .We do like the fact of doing our jobs professionally. . And pride ourselves on our ability to perform our duties safely.
I cannot be the only driver that is taking this step of micro management as an insult. We (drivers) built our safety rating. .I smile a little bit on the inside when that green light goes off inside my truck. It says "you're a good driver, you're a safe driver. .We have no reason to look at you, go on by".
I walk a little taller as I goto my truck because it says ACT.. And we are picky about who we put in a truck.
I got pulled over in Illinois not to long ago. .It's been a long time since I've had blue lights behind me and I'm thinking. .Wow, I must have really messed up. The trooper opened the passenger door., said grab your license and permit book and come to my car. Once in the car he explained that the state of Illinois had received federal money to perform roadside inspections and he had a quota to meet. He went on to explain that he chose me because he knew it would be easy.
He got his quota, I got 50 bucks.
I am trying to justify ACTs thinking. . The reasoning behind the cameras. .saying that they will make us safer drivers is hog wash.. If we weren't safe DOT would be all over us.
Did someone get a promotion and to justify it they feel they must change something? Because all they're changing is driver turn over in my opinion. . And it's going up.RoadCall Thanks this. -
Yeah i guess i should've specified the 8000 lease caused huge spikes in turnover due to it being a bad deal. Last week the announcement of the cameras had several trucks heading to kc to quit. And those drivers weren't noobs. Turnover will continue to climb. And recruiting has been slow anyways this will bring it to a crawl if not a full stop. And considering not even a quarter of the current lease and owner ops were on that conference call and they're being hush hush about the cameras i believe they know what's coming.

No apologizes necessary Jag, I just thought maybe there was a driver page on FB that I was unaware about. I know Crete and Interstate to name a couple, they have pages dedicated to drivers only. Wasn't sure if ACT had one too.
Yeah Kujo I understood what you meant, sorry. Do they still offer the 4000 lease?Jaguar115 Thanks this. -
RoadCall i understand they do but getting them to give someone one is hard. Don't fall for the take an 8000 and we'll get a 4 when is available. It's never gonna be! They've done that a lot lately and you can guess what happens when the drivers finally realize they're not ever gonna get one.
And also note they have said they are trying to change the makeup of the company. It used to only be about 25 percent company the rest lease or oo. They've stated wanting to go to now like 60/40 i think is what they said. With company being the bigger. Part of that being directly related to the utter failure of the 8000 lease. -
I don't care about a camera looking at the road as long it's not looking at me
Jaguar115 Thanks this. -
I agree, I'm sure most would be ok with cameras only facing out but unfortunately they face both ways.

block the view.

As that is my plan if i stay here long enough for that to happen but i get the feeling they won't allow it to stay covered. I plan to avoid the shop until they force me to come get it done.

My company installed camaras in all our trucks a few months ago, I was told they only come on when a "critical" event happens. Well, that green light transferring data is on atleast 10 times a day now. And when it comes on there is nothing that triggered it. I do not believe that the company doesn't have some sort of access to these devices. I did a test on mine one weekend, I covered the lense inside and I got a call Monday morning in a round about way telling me all about the camaras and not to cover them while I'm driving. From that point on I knew that they could see whenever they wanted too. To say it's not an invasion of privacy is crazy. Idc what the company's reasons are, it's not right by any means. I was ok with it in the beginning but after day in and day out of it coming on im growing more frustrated when I see that green light. I work for a small 30+ truck company, this will hurt the growth of this place. If drivers quit when we become aware of the company legally spying on us then camaras wouldn't be in any trucks.
Kujo Thanks this.
