Thanks for all the info. I guess he forgot to give me your number, but it all worked out since you saw my post. Is the Blue Beacon in Minot open? I went through there last winter and it was closed. I don't know if they were just building it or if they close in the winter.

I got back Friday and begged off of a Plaquemine load for today. My truck threw a check engine light, turbo is making a loud whining sound, It load sheds in about 5 minutes with the key turned to warm up the fuel and when I hit the brakes harder than normal with an empty trailer at about 35 MPH it felt like I was on a bucking bronco bouncing up and down. Shop is looking at it today. We are supposed to get 4-6 inches of snow/sleet in Winston Salem today so I don't really mind missing a couple of days. Of course Plaquemine would have been good anyway but I like to find the silver lining in things,
Be safe guys. -

WY is worse than lots of places. They don't believe in using salt or Calcium Chloride like most states. Sand works for traction but the ice stays around longer and there is no way around driving on it.

Wyoming is one of the states I run through every week. They use a salt, sand and crushed rock mixture on the roads. I have been told by locals the lack of salt is due to the cost and the fact the high winds will just blow it off the road. It makes you a whole lot better driver going up and down the hills is rough conditions.

I did get shut down once so far this year in Laramie due to 75 mph winds and black ice. I think they ended up with 12 blow overs. One poor driver got off at elk mountain and while sitting on the shoulder blew over!! That was a rough trip seeing all the aftermath but it's part of the job. I do love going west though and always will. Oregon is the state that won't use salt because of the environment. They don't want runoff into the water supply which they say will hurt the fish!! So the fish are more important than the residents!! HMMM

I'm on one of those Regina loads myself. It was supposed to have delivered this week, but once I was well underway the consignee decided to reschedule for six days after my original appointment. And this is on top of having to pick up the load late because Stepan lost power in the ice storm. But hey, so far the roads have been in good shape. So far, anyway...
