Thank you for your service..that uniform was all you needed..or your ID card..as they had done a background check with either one of these..I'm sure the navy ID card was more than the others..are you here in reno nv?

If you want tankers, go ahead and get TWIC, you will need it.
A&R Logistics waives the "one yr. experience" requirement for military veterans.Sean_Reno, Lucar and RetiredUSN Thank this. -
If you get your passport, be sure to also get your passport card (like a credit card). Functions same as passport (equivalent) where visa not required, like Mexico. Costs like $25.
Have had my TWIC for a while and was really pleased that it gave me a heads up on this job, can skip getting an entry pass. Then 3 weeks ago one of our delivery locations switched to RapidGate, which costs a couple hundred bucks. Since driver time is free, the company's not likely to pay for it and I'm not going to bother for now. Standing in line again is so yesterday!!
Air Force bases still like TWIC. Army wants RapidGate.Sean_Reno Thanks this. -
I did a little research last night on TWIC.
Who must get a TWIC?
- Coast Guard-credentialed merchant mariners, port facility employees, long shore workers, truck drivers, and others requiring unescorted access to secure areas of maritime facilities and vessels regulated by MTSA are required to get a TWIC. (homeport.uscg.mil.

What ships were you on Sean? When did you serve.
I did time on the :
USS Fulton AS-11
USS Barnstable County LST-1197
USS Spartanburg County LST-1192
Keokuk - YTB 771
Labrador - Open ocean torpedo retriever
USS Inchon - LPH 12
Retired in 1997 right here in Virginia Beach/Norfolk. Stayed ever since. -
USS New Jersey (BB-62) - Like being on a floating museum. Those BB's were totally useless since WWII. Money pits. The 16" guns, after WWII , were not accurate due to powder re-mixing(old powder with new powder); couldn't get the guns calibrated after that.
RetiredUSN Thanks this. -
An airport is an international port of entry if there is airfreight coming in from another country, that part of the airport that handles the airfreight, not the entire airport itself.

Seems like lots of Navy Bases use RapidGate. Sounds like RIPOFFGATE.
You would think a TSA-Issued ID would be the best of solutions. Aside from the acquisition of the RapdiGate card - they are only good for ONE YEAR (versus TWIC being good for 5).
RapidGate apparently requires the COMPANY to sign up for approval (and pay) so, unlike a TWIC - I don't think an individual can just walk in and get one.
