I am trying to go back with a good attitude and an open mind. Really the last time I left I think I should have stayed but I wanted more money. I had a good dispatcher and I got good trips. The only thing I really dont like about werner is the ever chaseing of the golden mt thats not around and weekend dispatchers are really stupid. Other than that I didnt have much to complain about . They take good care of there trucks mechanically. I took home decent pay not great but decent.Well one time I quit cause they didnt get me home it was 2 days after I was supposed to be home and I was still 3000 miles away so I just delivered my load and took my truck to a terminal and flew home and came back when I was done. I figure the worst thing that will happen is I will have to stay with them for a year and a half and in that case I want to move home to washington so I will just come here one month pack up the top bunk with boxs then request hometime in washington the next month and put them in storage and just go back and forth till I am moved that should make up for the lack of miles pay . I am a little worried that when I get there safety will turn me away but have asked the recruter 3 times and she said no there not going to turn you away so whatever I shall see. I leave on the 31st to start on the 2nd in Allentown just trying to pack every thing I need dont want to have to buy anything for a couple of weeks. I am also kind of concerned that I will be working with them at the same time as fighting dac so I dont know how that will work out either but thats another thing I just have to wait and see. I am kind of stressed right now but have to pay the bills so you gotta do what you gotta do.

Oh - I understand about grabbing the job. But that should not prevent you from getting your DAC fixed. I'd make that a high priority. Right up there with getting a paycheck.
Oh - duh. I see you intend to keep after it. Good.
I don't know enough to answer how they'd react to you fighting the DAC. It shouldn't be an issue, but some people...
However, if they take umbrage and fire you again, you should end up with a clean DAC - and thus be open to hire at other companies. -
yeah I have already started the process to fix my dac and it will be fixed because I found out from the recruter that there is no jacknife on my file it just says truck 400 estimate to repair(they never looked at it) does not say what happened to it and says nothing about a jacknife so It will get fixed but in the meantime I need to eat and pay bills. And I really dont think werner will care and I am thinking they wont fire me. They really are a pretty streight up company just big thats all too big for me. But still the same they have always treated me well . the search for the golden mt and the weekend dispatch is really the only issues I have with them. The pay is a little lower than I would get elswhere but what are you going to do that is why I have decided to have them move me bit by bit while I am there that will be my pay I am not getting. Like I said I am just going back with an open mind and a good attitude. ANd you know last time I almost didnt leave because I had a really good dispatcher and made pretty good money so who knows I might stay a while but I will get my dac cleaned up that is top priority. Thanks for your input. Have a great day.

Okay, so now I am getting a little bit worried about my prehire letter for Werner. I am needing advice on how the training goes. I didn't have an easy time in trucking school, paid cash for it, and only female, and it was not easy. Believe me. The school paid more attention to the ones who received grants for school, simply because the grant did not go through until graduation day. I am now worried about Werner's training. I hope somebody can give me some good advice here, don't wish to mess up my DAC.

Werner's training was 275 hours (actual driving hours) when I was there back in January. In addition to that they were adding 50 + hours to that time.
Theoretically it should take you like 4 - 6 weeks to accomplish. In reality it was taking 3 - 4 months for a lot of other student including myself.
When I was there I had accomplished only 79 hours of driving time in one month. To no fault of mine or my trainer.
While in Orientation you'll have I think 6 CBT's (computer based training) to take. These are TIMED. Take your time and don't rush through them or you WILL take them again. These test are supposed to take 20 minutes each approximately.
DON'T RUSH through them. It sucks to have to retake these things.
I stepped out to smoke a cigarette while taking them to ensure that I wouldn't cut my time too short.
Hope this kinda Helps. -
I think a really important thing to remember is that if you and your trainer don't see eye to eye, you can call in to training and request a different one. THis may leave you planted on the side of the road for a bit, so you'd have to plan for it - but it won't give you a black mark with the company.

Thanks for the advice, still going to look at other companies too. I just graduated school May 9,08, and the school said after 30 days diploma is not good, because companies will make you take a refresher. Werner said that I have 2 years. After reading some of the posts, just wondering if Werner is where I really wish to go. The stories about trainers not taking a shower for days. Not happening with me. I will be taking one if I have to miss a meal. I am not a disrespectful person, but I can already feel my thumb in the air to hitchhike. I am also not prim and proper been around semi's for over 13 years in the family. I don't see any excuse for not taking a shower, maybe one day, but not a week or two. Especially being a woman, nope, not happening. Take care and drive safe out there, sure you will see me out there somewhere, lol.

Thank you for replying to my question. I mean that sincerely. It is just after reading some of the posts on here, I am starting to wonder if I really want to go to Werner. I just graduated from school May 9,08, and the school said I have to use the diploma within a month. Werner said two years. Shoot, it might take me that long to decide how long I wish to go without a bath. I think some of the posts on here, not showering for a week. Like yep, and gee, not happening with this redhead. I will forego my meal, but a woman without a shower, like more than I could take in this lifetime. I have my pride. I think I will look into some other companies too. Or maybe practice putting my thumb out to catch a ride first week I have to go without a shower. What happened to pride and representing the trucking company? When did that get replaced with here I am, spray me with Lysol? I have been around trucks for years, did not drive, but my ex husband is a driver, and I do know a few things about the trucking industry. I know enough to say when a person gets out of school, might think they know it all, but it is not even a drop in the bucket to what you learn out there. Now, I don't know if I wisht to learn smelling like a dumpster, or look at other companies. Talk to the trainer? Oh yes, we will be talking alright, while I am flying into the truckstop to shower while he takes nap, or eats. Yep, that is my talking. Sooooooo, if anybody sees a redhead out there with thumb in the air, will know why.

I got good training at werner. My first trainer sucked and I was only with him for a week he was the no shower no eat yelling all the time kind. My second one was great had been driveing for 6 years and was an xcop and was just fantastic learned alot from him but with only 24 hours left to go I had a family emergancy and had to go home. Went back 30 days later and got another super trainer who had been driveing for 8 years. They did keep me on his truck 2weeks too long but I didnt mind as I fealt I was just getting more training so I stayed with no fuss. I unlike other people had a pretty positive training experiance with werner except for the 1st one wich I promptly got rid of. Good luck.
