Ok, so I have been driving for one year, one month, and 2 weeks now. I'm feeling trapped in a job I love, yet working in an industry of employers that are a bunch of liars and cheats. They offer a job full of promises, saying your going to make good money, with plenty of work and then when you buy their bull Sh!Г you get stuck sitting at a truck stop for a day or 2 between every run waiting for a load. And when you get one it doesn't pay anywhere close to what was promised for average load pay. What's the most frustrating is that all these companies seem to be the same so it doesn't make any since to change employers, to start all over again at the bottom of seniority. I'm so mad I just want to scream and pull my hair out. I drove my first year for a major ( first time out ) starter Co. I left out of frustration due to inconsistency in miles to go work for a smaller Co that is actually a deviation of that larger Co ( that was probably my first mistake) that pays percentage of what the truck makes rather then miles.

When I was recruited by this Co, I was sold with A.) a weekly pay guarantee, this was a big selling point because there where some weeks I got some small paychecks with the former Co that really hurt. B.) a decent sign on bonus and can't complain there. C.) that I would be pulling expedited freight that pays more for less miles and there for my potential to make better weekly pay was great. And D.) that the freight was bountiful thus making my potential of greater pay was great. so now the reality of it is that since I started working for the company I have been pulling just standard everyday I'm afraid that was the same freight I was pulling for the original company. I think I've had one expedited Run since I've started. And the excuses that due to the time of year freight is very slow. In the end resuan I was making less money on average than I was making before.my fellow drivers I don't know what to do. Do I stay with this company and hope it gets better.

Do I start looking for local work, which I really don't want to do except for being able to see my kids more often. But going local scares me because I'm afraid it will become more of a job and I'll end up not liking it at all. Do I go back to the company I was working with before which I'll be honest I don't want to do but the truth is I was consistently making more money with them. Or do I take my chances with another OTR company. Does anyone know of a company that can get me a consistent 1200 to 1500 dollar a week paycheck wwith halfway decent benefits decent equipment that preferably would go actually 70 miles an hour instead of the 65 mile an hour bull and home time once a month for 4 days or 5 days.if you've taken the time to read this thank you and I hope to hear your advice / opinions. Once again thank you.

Not sure how long you have been at the new company. Sounds like a month or so as you stated you had just over a year of experiance. The only thing I will say is that Febuary has to be the slowest month of the year. Rates are way down so if your getting paid a percentage then your pay will be down too. Try sticking it out until summer. Give it a good 3 months to see if it picks up.

Look at getting your own authority, and your own truck and start your own business. I know how you feel, done that.

If your interested in a great company with plenty of miles EVERY week send me a PM and I'll hook you up. I have a friend that has lots of trucks leased onto a large carrier.

You're making lateral moves instead of moving up.
Do you have endorsements; they're money in the bank.

Cardinal Logistics - I made over a thousand a week with this company. Left to go with hazmat/tankers and more money.

    Praxair
    Indian River Transport
    Maverick Transportation
    Northern Gas Transport
    Holland Enterprises
    Lessors Inc.

Do some research to see if Trimac Transportation or Superior Carriers hires in your area.

Stop being frustrated...I know...hard to do. Like Chinatown always says get all the endorsements...go to tanker. Might have to sacrifice that 70 mph truck dream though.

Since he just hired on with them I'd give it another 2-3 months to see if things pick up.

Yep, most 70 mph companies are few and far between these days, unless it's a 1099 junk outfit.
Time to get out there with the big boys and a decent company. Don't go back to the old company, USX, because you already know that's not going to work out for you. Start fresh!
