Drivers, if inspected, get violations on thier PSP Detailed Report. As far a points, FMCSA does not add them up or calculate them for the driver. They only apply them to the motor carrier.
If a driver wants to know their own CSA score, they have to cross reference violations on their PSP Detailed Report with SMS point system, severity and weight system and figure it out themselves. CSA does not do that for drivers, it only does it for the motor carrier.

But, I don't see any on mine. I can't even find the header for that information.

Take your violation. Severity weight of violation x3. For example. 15 mph over is a severity weight of 15. Multiply by 3 you get 45
on the psp it's not actually on there like that. Just your violations. If you want to find out your actually CSA/PSP severity weight points that's how you do it.JJKid Thanks this. -
Can I delete this as the op

Really? You might want to research that a little bit more.joseph1135 Thanks this.

Speeding, no seat belt, texting, EVERY VIOLATION is a CSA/PSP reportable offense. And it'll be on there. A log book violation. An overweight violation. Failure to obey traffic controls. Doesn't matter. You get stopped, you are warned or get a summons, it's going on your PSP and the company's CSA.JohnBoy Thanks this.

... if an inspection is done. The reporting is through the inspection form. Mind you, it's very rare to get stopped and not get an inspection form, but it happens.
And overweights are not part of CSA at the moment. They were initially, and will be at some point in the future, but not right now. -
I would love to agree with you Hammer, you know I respect you. But talking with my safety guy today, he showed me what goes on the CSA/PSP and how and why it goes on. If you're pulled over in a CMV and are issued a warning or citation, you get points. He showed me a few drivers that had gotten pulled over and issued citations for a number of different things, and what points are accumulated.Hammer166 Thanks this.

Joe, I'm not sure we're communicating here, because I don't think we're disagreeing... I'm not saying all those violations don't count, but the way the system is set up, it pulls the data for CSA/PSP from the inspection forms the officer uses if they do a Level 1-6 inspection. If you are given a citation that is not noted on an inspection form, there is no mechanism for polling the state DMV's to pull violation data off the driver's CDL records.
Here's a link to current CSA methodology: http://www.csa2010.com/SMSMethodology_Revised_August_2010.pdf
And the relevant text, blue emphasis mine:
Safety was one of my hats when I first got in the office, and I still keep on eye on our SMS, so I'm well aware of how the system works. Any violation, warning or citation, will get you points if it is noted on the inspection form. If you look at SMS for a company, and look at the violations under any of the BASIC's, you'll notice their is no indication of whether a violation was a warning or a citation (As you correctly pointed out.) My only point was that if you get a lazy cop who doesn't fill out MCSAP sheet, the violations don't get pulled into the system, and therefore no points.joseph1135 Thanks this. -
I think the point here is not to get caught---LOL
couldn't help it.....truckon, joseph1135 and Hammer166 Thank this.
