Mid-January. I did want to make the move. The midwest is so BOOOOOORING! I just didnt expect to get hosed the way I did while I was on my way there.
I'm glad for the MVR being considered over the DAC. The DAC is a shady bunch of bs. little knicks and dings and scratches are gonna happen. all of my stuff was really minor and the first 2 happened my first 60 days on my own. the 3rd one never even happened, but I got screwed by Werner's lazy ##### Safety Dept for something I KNOW i didn't do.
honestly, I would look around and see if there's some other FedEX Contractors around. .38 cpm is seriously low. How much experience do you have? I'm being offered .50 cpm and I only have a little over a year's experience.
They're taking advantage of you. Is it also team? Or is it solo?crb Thanks this. -
I assume she may not have the luxury of waiting till a picture perfect opportunity comes.
Sometimes it can be a race between getting hired and meeting finances (often in the nick of time),, or waiting (without income) and not meeting finances.
It happens to all of us. Good luck, Patty!mpow66m, pattyj and slim shady Thank this. -
That's all that matters in the end. And if you have a dedicated run you know what your miles will/paycheck will be. Are you at least getting drop and hooks for that mileage rate? Good luck getting the job. Once you get settled in I think you'll like it. It is pretty stress free as long as you like to run and not screw around. Now I will warn you. Depending on what your run is you may spend a couple hours or more a night sitting and waiting. Their system at night at least is set up to get loads to a hub by 12:30-1:00 a.m. then spend the next couple hours unloading/loading trailers so you can leave by 3:00 a.m.ish. I guess that's not too bad if you have a sleeper but it sucks in a day cab especially getting paid mileage
Most of the hubs I go to now are simply drop/hook and boogie on out of there, I hate sitting around, it's a character flaw I've never been able to get over
I'm on the extra board now, I'm trying to get my boss to bid on dedicated runs when they come up and I actually want to do them
So, since there haven't been many opening runs I want to do I have developed a pretty good relationship with dispatch which usually keeps me in decent miles. This week has been a bit rough due to the storm down south but it should be picking up again by next where I'll be busier than I really want to be
I've gotten the reputation now of being the guy that will run two runs, 300-350 miles total and still go back for another couple hundred miles to bail them out, break downs, snafus on their end, etc.
Ground is pretty strange about running lots of miles, they seem to think 500 miles round trip requires a team.
LoneCowboy, pattyj and KW Cajun Thank this. -
go there in person and keep calling, did you try ltl companies like estes, odfl, abf and such.the contract thing with fedex is a ripoff afaik.i got a few calls from them too.talked to the guy and listened to all the bs.shoot i havent held a job for more than 8 months in 3.5 years(low tolerance for bs i guess) and i just got hired by estes express.w/ 11 years you should have no prob.KW Cajun Thanks this.

It's solo dedicated run home every day drive nights.I wouldn't know where to look for a fed ex contractor here in Sioux City other then craigs list.Right now my main concern is getting back to work ASAP.He hasn't started on my file because hes been in Des Moines for the last 2 days,so hopefully he starts it tomorrow.Who knows once I prove myself I can work on the fedex side.I'll be taking a load to a trk stop dropping it and bringing one back 5 days a week.
X-Country Thanks this. -
