I hate these threads and never expected to be writing one myself but here goes. I was going to start my own company but the insurance companies are wanting me to do another year with a company first so, KB it is.

This company is not perfect but they have a lot going for it and are trying to make improvements. I have been impressed with some of their efforts enough to recommend them. However, there is so much BS in trucking I figure to give it to you straight.

I started with the company in November. They provided a bus ticket from Kansas City to South Sioux City. I hate buses. I got there and found others were being flown in. I love flying being ex Air Force.

They put us up in a motel. Yawn. No one ever seems to understand that a motel away from everything sucks. Put me up in the Hard Rock.

Orientation is like it is all over. Fill out paper work and wait for your drug test to come back. But wait a minute. Something different is happen at KB. The orientation is being run by the recruiting department. Big mistake. These guys are not truckers. They point out that the company has a turn over rate of 135-185 %. The guy actually told us to look around as none of us would be there in a year. I found this to be very stupid. It planted the idea in everyones head that working for this company was something the smart people didn't do. I made me look for reasons to quit, instead of reasons to retire with the company.

So here are the bad things. They have way too many load planners and dispatchers who do not do what there job should be. As a trucker we need to know how our day is being spent. I hate sending in an I am Empty message and getting back a No Pre Plan exist for you. What is the job of the Pre Planners if I never have a plan. Six hours left on my clock and no idea if I should sleep or what. It would be nice to get a message that says, We have no plan for you and you are relieved for the next 10 hours to sleep.

Why stay with KB. They are trying to correct the things that are wrong. They seem to be trying. Nice middle side company. Good miles. And they just raised starting pay to .45 per mile. The mainteince shop is great. Ownership is right there on site. Easy to talk too.

You get a sign on bonus of $1000 or so. Plus great insurance. It is reefer so most of the driving is at night. I like the night. Lots of Tyson. Midwest.

I will be there for at least one year. I have been forced off the road by a car and the company did not fire me. I like that. A lot.

They want drivers who will stay with them. They overlook little bumps and will give a second chance to someone.

Glad you're liking kb Jeff.I guess they're having a hard time getting the drivers because their insurance company denies more drivers then hires.

I put them on my "Don't go there list" about 2 yrs. ago because of a craigslist post by a driver that quit foe whatever reason, and they told him
if he wanted the weeks pay he had coming........He would have to sue them for it!
    That's jus his story, But!!!!!!!!!
Good luck, and hope you make your 12 month goal!

They told me the same exact thing... They know that it would cost me more than $600 to sue them for the $600 they took from me.
