Its 2 days to start to see if I can do it.But still that's not the point,if they really needed a driver that bad they would have started my file right away .They didn't answer any of my emails. Finally I got ahold of him yesterday and he told me he hasn't even started then said youre sure persistant aren't ya,meaning he did get my emails and calls. Then another 2 weeks before I start.Im going to keep on looking.

pattyj Thanks this. -
That would be great. My problem however is my work history.Estes is a good company, doubt they'll give me a chance.

i havent held a job for more than 8 months in the past 3.5 years(there was more to it than that, like temp work.wont go into it here)and they hired me,companies are desperate for good drivers.give them a try,be honest with them youll get hired.unless you have an aversion to netting 1100.00 a week or so.
not too bad for starting out.

That's one thing I am on applications is honest and before filling one out if I talk to them first. Two employers said they appreciate my honesty.Ill give them a try if they have a location here.

I'm sorry to say that back in 1990 I was only getting 27½¢ a mile. It was a cheap company I used as a stepping stone into tankers. But back then we always heard what UPS made 51¢ or so and they were the top. But I've also noticed that top LTL companies have been folding kicking their drivers out. I wish I could tell you more other than doubles make you a better driver on paper in most cases and you can move up to the top paying positions.

I thought about that but things aren't adding up with this contractor.Knowing him he wouldn't pay me what he said and it would be only a few weeks if that.I'll still search craigs list but it wont be for any contractors ill keep my eyes open for legitimate companies.Im not going to wait around till the 5th for a job that may or maynot exist while I could be job hunting. So I emailed this contractor and on the subject line I put stop the application process then went on to tell him why im not taking the job.

Doubles aren't bad...but you can't have a wondering steering wheel..as some others said it can be an event in a cross wind..but its livable..its just something else to get used to..making turns are easier...don't worry about them..you'll do OK...wait until you pull triples..you look in that rear mirror..it might freak you out..but its like anything...if it was easy....anybody could do it..
