Basically the company grants (gives) you a certain number of shares periodically based upon certain criteria. The criteria can be different plan to plan but usually center around your time with the company, profit goals, etc. There is usually a vesting schedule where you can't sell the shares for a certain period of time, usually five years since receiving the stock grant.
Just because the company is partially owned by employees doesn't necessarily mean it is managed differently then when closely held by the family.
I don't know the details of TMC's plan, but no, you don't have to buy the shares.tucker Thanks this. -
Well, a few chuckles ... but still no answer. What is a TMC drivers role in keeping the truck looking good? Is he req'd to take it thru a truck wash weekly (and get reimbursed)? Does someone else do the cleaning while the truck is at a terminal. Just wondering if it involves much extra work for their drivers. One guy told me that TMC drivers are issued supplies for polishing the chrome and req'd to do it regularly. True or bull ####?

I think now they require only every other week but I'm not sure. The also had a an account at Blue Beacon just gave them the wash number from your FM.plankton Thanks this. -
Are trainees and new drivers driving the 379's, or is most everybody driving 579's now?

at least every 2 weeks on TMC's dime. some drivers polish the aluminum once and say the hell with it,a pain the a--,but it does look good though.

Just had a TMC recruiter at my school today. He said drivers need to wash the truck once a week on the company dime. Also the company will give you what you need to keep the inside clean too.

So the drivers have to get the truck washed on the company's dime every week or so, which is nice, but does the driver get paid for the time waiting in line or for getting the rig washed?
