The problem with equipment was the frequent sale of company property by dirtballs in truck stop parking lots.

Rough couple days. Appointment pushed back several days due to the weather. APU quit out. Can't idle. Colder in the truck than out. Batteries won't hold a charge.

Give this article a read and hopefully you'll never have problems with hometime again.

First, piermechanic is complaining about the company policy... 3 weeks out between home time requests, 4 days max. He wasn't complaining about not getting home. That's not unusual for OTR companies, but there are companies with more liberal policies.

Second, you don't need to come into our forum posting an article about how to get an unethical company to bend over for you. Prime is actually very even handed about their employee policies, and attempts to get everyone's requests handled as best they can. In all of the years that I have run for Prime I can remember only one time that I didn't get home on time, and that was due to lack of freight. Many times I've been routed back to my home area without asking, and either my fleet manager sent a QC message asking if I'd be taking time off or if I said I'll take a couple of days before reloading there wasn't a problem. One Thanksgiving, they had me bobtail over 250 miles to get home... well beyond the company parameters for that sort of thing. You're barking up the wrong tree here.

I've been late home twice, both due to receiver issues, not Prime.

i hear that. I was stuck in the Denver area over the weekend. It was cold enough that my Jim Palmer truck would idle and I used the bunk heater so much the APU was on a lot keeping the batteries charged.. I hope they can get you into a shop soon! I just picked up in a Dodge City and headed to Tolleson. Looking forward to some warm weather in Arizona.

I'm considering applying to prime after reading a lot about the company and the industry, and thought this would be the best thread to ask in.

JB, I live just south of Nashville, TN in Franklin, how difficult would it be to get hometime? Would you use a drop lot in Nashville or somewhere else?

Also I have been self employed for 10 yrs, how would this effect my application? I have no employer for them to call.

    Thanks

Home time plus a lot of other things are explained in this thread...

    http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/prime/197427-new-prime-inc-what-expect-springfield.html

We have shippers and receivers in Murfresboro and Lavergne, so you're in a good area for getting home. Since you are self employed, most likely they'll want to see some tax records showing that.

Thanks IP for answering the hometime question, it pertained to when I was solo, and the other information you gave answered it perfectly.

    Best regards.
