Yes Convenant is a team based company, because of the air freight loads they pull, and also, because of the freight that is put on the rail, and left to sit in a yard till its almost late. At their company picnics, at their terminals, they are trying to get solos to team up with other solos (strangers) and drive team. Usually using high pressure sales tactics. I watched them do this to a couple solos at a driver apreciation thing at a truck stop in Georgia. If the company would run the freight like it was given to them by the shippers/receivers, their drivers would make alot more money, and I think the company would too.
But the question arrises, is it really team based when 92% of their freight is solo based, but left to sit in rail yards, and drop yards until its almost late, or actually is late? Then the driver is blamed for it being late. Most of us experienced drivers can attest to that.
Additionally, if you are being offered anything less than 42CPM, you are getting #$$ sodomized. Look for a smaller company, or a quality large company (GOOD LUCK!). If you lived near Atlanta, I would say go with Interstate, but they dont dispatch out of florida. Their sister company USX pays better than that, this is just plainly laughable that they would pay so little..
Check with FedEx also, and see if you can land a team spot their. I would almost bet you could, and still get home weekends, driving your tails off. And on top of that, they pay in the high 40's, low 50's (for teams) depending on experience.
If you are set on CFI, keep running solo where ever you are at, wait for the end of that 6 month BS, then both go their. The fewer hits on your USIS/DAC, the easier it is to get a job.

It is still 5 cents/team for the hazmat endorsement, they just give 1cent per mile for all miles driven to each driver and then 1.5 per driver on placarded loads.
The 17 cents per mile (after training, up to 18 at 3 months, 20 at 6 months) is base. Add to that 1cpm safety bonus (all bonuses seem to be paid quarterly), 2cpm retention, and 1-2.5cpm hazmat. A newly upgraded team can be making 21-22.5cpm for all miles driven (driver, and co-driver, and yes you do get paid for trainer's miles if the trainer drives)
Hope this clarifies some things from someone who recently went through training. So far I would say Cov has been a decent experience, though I do admit I tried to keep expectations low from the start. Not the worst company to work for, though probably far from the best either.
Good day,meat999 Thanks this. -

I am sure some like them, but I do not and it is because they will not stand beside you if you get hurt, or have an accident. They will push you to drive unsafe but if you do them the so called favor and have an accident they will act as if they do not know you, but then I have heard thats most companies

I am trying to understand this-- i go to covanent next week for training, it was that or cr england. and the things i hear about them scares the heck out of me. if it was not for this drug felony 16 yrs ago when i was a kid- i would be able to go to a good company. I was told by the lady at trans am to get 90 days in and they will take me. I am hopeing to stick it out with for the 90 days is covenant that bad? or should i keep looking for a company that will take a felon. I am a newbee myself

You had a DUI-- I had a drug possession case in 1992 16yrs ago covanent was the only company that would give me a chance at doing something I love. So unless you know a company-- maverick said they dont hire anyone with a felony at least not for drugs, people can change thier life and covanent is the only one besides cr englang that gave me a chance. How bad can they be?? at least they give people a chance.

Am I mad at them for not letting me in? No, they have high standards that I don't meet at this time. They have guidelines that they go by.
