I currently have a 7" rand McNally navigation. I was really thinking about getting the new tablet but it seems it fails as a tablet.
What has everyone that runs a tablet used? Tablet, mount and nav app. I want a nav set up that is trucker designed with scales notification, trucker routes and car routes, time to arrival and time of arrival. Everything the RM 7" does and more.
What mount are you using to mount to windshield etc?
What tablet works good for this? What's a good tablet with forward facing camera?
All input is good and welcomed

Why would you say it fails as a tablet? Guessing or based upon personal experience?
-
Can you show me the available current tablets that do not come with a camera.....
Your designing a product for truckers who are a way from home who use Skype and other video features DAILY! Why would you omit one of the most used features for many drivers and such a basic function on any other tablet? -
IF you had read the other thread on the tablet and I don't know why you did not post there... The camera function was "taken" to provide the Driver a means to connect a rear view mirror cam to the slice. How many Tablets allow you to hook a rear view mirror cam and have a dash cam running at the same time?
This tablet was made #1 as what the driver will do. Drive with the functions that a driver will need. The tablet is great for on DOT Break with the Android tablet features.
Video Chatting was thought about, but the ability to connect a rear view mirror cam was deemed to be a higher priority. -
I fail to see why I need the RM tablet anyway. I already have a Nexus 7" tablet. I have a dash cam already and I have the RM 530 gps. Got all three for less than the RM tablet.
The tablet was 80% off at the Alco at home. They went out of business and sold everything in the store for massive discounts the last few days.
The RM 530 gps I won in a raffle. So, that was free.
My dash cam was $150 at a TA. -
No one is "forcing" you to buy the tablet? As anyone knows each year new products come out. This year happens to be the Tablet since the trend is more towards tablets.
-
You don't need it. You have all of those bases covered with the $600 of gear (at retail pricing) already.

A rear view mirror cam? For the rear of the truck?

Whatever you want it pointed at.
Rear of truck, rear of trailer, inside a trailer, right blind side view, at the driver for Skyping, on the load of a flatbed, etc. "Backup camera button" (app) brings it up on the screen.
