We went forwards today! It was a very exciting day for everyone. Also did some offset backing which is not bad at all. Took me longer to figure out straight line but I'm sure doing that naturally helps with the offset. My road instructor was Brian but since he runs the yard I'm not positive I'll have him the rest of the week. You can see how passionate he is about teaching. Everytime my right hand found its way off the steering wheel or shifter he would pick it right up and place it (bad habbit from casual driving). I went first and at first shifting was obviously not as fluid and fast as it should be. Everything from mashing the clutch / missing a gear happened. My second go around for the day was like a victory lap in terms of progress however the snow had melted and I got my first drifting experience at a whopping 2mph but it was either that or get stuck and Brian was not about to have me get stuck haha. Tomorrow will be the first on the actual road day for me. The half of the class who started offset in the morning were able to go out this afternoon since the roads had cleared.

Past two days have gone by really quick. Off set backing is in the bag for now which is good! I did it for two hours today alone. Yesterday I was on the road practiceing up shifting and down shifting along with basic turns. Today was the same except I performed extremely well on the shifting and turns on the giant one or 2 mile block we go around. It started to snow sideways when it was time to leave and I was on drive back duty. I thought Brian would take the wheel especially when another instructor had called and said they were already back. Brian kept me at the wheel and we took the backway back avoiding the interstate. #### got real pretty fast. 1/4 visibility snow covered road and some traffic. When we came down a hill we had a brief white out peroid. We made it back to the yard with little incident, worst thing that happened was a missed down shift no skids, slides, or heavy breaking! I was lucky to have the opportunity to drive in it and get that experience with a reliable instructor next to me. Adrenaline is still going a bit and I had a healthy amount of respect for the road / condition we were in. Anyways so far school here has exceeded my expectations its not easy by any stretch of the means but I am enjoying my journey and learning a lot. Tomorrow depending on the weather we may get some downtown driving in the afternoon. Morning will be off set with no markers to the sides. It will also be extremely cold for the next week. Almost there though to think I road test next Thursday!

Not much to say. I'm doing fairly well going forward. I drove through construction and commerce city today. My fellow roommate is saying today was my best day and I'm doing awesome. I landed in the lanes both times solo on my alley docks today. Alley docking is not easy though I'm honestly just doing what they say verabatim and using the ground markers. When those markers are not present alley docking is going to be a #####. Today was also brutally cold and its pretty much going to stay that way until we leave. I'm going to do some laundry and call it a night tonight.

I have a question, I am not understanding what you mean by covering your unemployment with 1099's? If you have 1099's then you were employed? What am I missing? I have been unemployed for 2 months due to being laid off, am I hearing that is going to stop me from getting a trucking job?

Two months shouldn't stop you, but if it drags on for long it wi affect you.

Essentially it is a DHS requirement, they want to make sure you haven't been over in Syria alhanging out with ISIS and learning how to make fertilizer bombs...

If you are recently unemployed and actively seeking employment it should not be an issue.

Long term unemployment can and often does effect your ability to find a job.

I was out of work twice in my life for extended periods of time:
    1) the 1st. time for 11 months: 5/9/1992 - 4/12/1993
    2) the 2nd. time for 7 months: 9/17/2006 - 4/16/2007

Due to hard personal experience, I do NOT like to ever look down on or think of an unemployed person as being "lazy" or "unmotivated". This is worse than "rubbing salt into a wound".

4/17/2015, I will have 8 years at my current job. I have NOT, nor will I ever forget my days of long term unemployment.

I've noticed some trucking companies ask for 10 years of driving employment or 5 years of non driving employment. I guess like everything else, the requirements differ from company to company.
