Hmm ran van and had pretty good weeks home every weekend most for more than the 34 but admit not much more.
The .34 when i started was a huge bump from the .23 I had at my starter company.
Paid off the school myself and made 10k more for the same miles. Changed to a closer to home just as they went to .38 start was already at .37 over the 14 months there.
week of my quitting (a week after notice) they started talking about seeing if i would set up compter systems in the trucks to run off DDL as I taught one guy how to use it and his log violations dropped from atleast 4 a week to none in a month.
Did enjoy the fact they trusted me 4 months exp. with a brand new truck not some hand me down.

Sad to hear only 10cents in ten years though a penny a year raise but more down time not worth it.

That has been standard with many companies for ages. I'm not sure why your are shocked. I ran across that in IT companies all the time. It has increase since Obamacare becasue it raised prices so much. However with most plans I've seen usually the employee gets it cheaper with their own company than with the spouses.

Really?.... You darn Sure bet I'm shocked alright cause it sure ain't none of the company's dang business if wife works or not!!!.... And this ideal will not be accepted by any of us free Americans at any time..... So I can't agree that this is normal by no means my good man..... Let me ask you this, since when does any company have a right to know you're familie's structure and any such thing?
... Americans have a right to affordable health care
I have Obama care for my whole family!
At $292 a month, my company offered health insurance for $186 a week..... What would you do?

So you think it's your "right" to have access to affordable healthcare?..naw not really..you dont have a right at all.. do you think that life is un-fair and government should "make" it fair? We as people really dont "deserve" nothing..You get what you earn..As for your O-care at 292 a month ..well you can thank the tax-payer for subsidizing the rest of the cost of your plan..How do you work for any truck company that doesn't pay 100 % of your medical benefits..what would I do ?.I would leave your current employer now as should every driver they have until they offer better health ins..

What is mind-boggling is.....the entitlement conditioning the current regime has been pushing. Call me old-school, I earn my keep, I am not entitled to 3 hots and a cot, a mule and 40 acres, free education, or medical benefits subsidized off the backs of others. A MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE !

maybe not so bad, you could save money this way, find out what the cost is for just yourself at both your work place and spouses work place, might end up saving some money this way

Companies with more than 50 employees do not have to offer health insurance....they can opt to pay a fine to the govt. Your plan for $292/month is heavily subsidized by taxpayers. In other words WE are all paying for you.

I think i would either tell them that he or she is unemployed or has a job that does not offer insurance. Im a firm believer of you get what you pay for. Im sure they will loose drivers with their new rules. Because of companies like them and the bs they put drivers through is one of the reasons i became an O/O. My wife carries health insurance for both of us.

McLeod Express is in the business of making money....plain and simple......and the money saved by not covering driver's spouse's has allowed them to buy several new trucks and increase top driver pay to .50 CPM..........and no I'm sticking up for the company either, personally I think the owner and his son's are just using it as a piggy bank because they have nothing to do with it anymore as you can see from the several ex-mega carrier executive's they have in the office.
