Logging in load information

On paper log, if you dont put anything in the "SHIPPING NO./BOL." section then you get cited with either of these violations:

My dispatcher is usually very good about taking care of that for me, so I normally forget to put the info in myself. Really need to keep that in mind.

 

Yeah, it seems redundant if you are used to using e-logs, but if you are used to using paper logs it makes sense. As noted earlier in this thread your log book must show the load(s) you are under. Once you get into the habit it only takes a minute to enter a load into the system.

This was brought to my attention by our Safety department when they reviewed my logs. There is a feature in the Qualcomm that allows you to FAX your logs if a DOT inspector requests them. If you aren't logging your loads, then you have blanks at the header of each page for your load information and that's a violation.

 

Qualcomm is what's wrong with the trucking world IMO. They dont want drivers thinking for themselves. It's just another form of control.

 

It is a dot requirement. We have to enter our Bol number into peoplenet with each load.

 

On my Elog/Qualcom I have to tell the computer using a "load entry" that I am hooked to, and moving, the load/trailer that my computer "told me to move" EVEN THOUGH I told it that I am moving it with a mac 7 "loaded and rolling" or mac 6 "hooked trailer" message!

It is stupid programming. But...

I move 2, 3, 4 and sometimes 5 or 6 loads/trailers a day. So, in regards to the burden of redundancy, how many do you move/log in a day?

I do one or two, maybe three in a day. Depends on the market in my area.
