I understand that. But I never said that I am charging 1.87 a mile. Im lucky to pull a 1.50 a mile. So i profit 45 cents (hopefully) where they profit 57 cents.

My mistake, I lease to a company and I don't pull anything less than $1.70. I was thinking I needed to get your loads but now not so much. I am lucky that I do not have to deal with load boards though so that helps.

I spend roughly $0.62 per mile. That includes $0.38 Fuel (8-12 MPG), $0.10 Truck/Ins/Maint ($500 a month into savings), $0.13 Hotels (800 a month) and $0.01 for trailer. My truck and trailer are paid for so the money I put away is for replacement equipment when the time comes. Leaves me with at least $1.03 a mile. I owned semis for 19 years before getting into this and I never averaged $1.08 clear a mile month after month. Of course that doesn't include paying myself but that is my affair.

I am thinking about selling my hopper wagon and getting into a hot shot also. I will not be using a duelly and a gooseneck. I have been looking at this.

I plan to go with either a RAM 3500HD or 4500HD. I've seen opinions going both ways on the subject of bigger rigs versus smaller, but the one that stands out to me that I read the other day said, What works for me may not work for you. My plan is for short hauls, 500 miles radius hauls, and I will be pulling a 34' gooseneck flatbed.
