Well her 50cpm is the constant variable, her miles will be affected by her and her co-driver. So hopefully she keeps averaging 5k total miles a week, only time will tell.

Meet my co-driver Monday, get some instruction on hooking the doubles up with the dolly. Then a road test.

Rough spot there sir. I'd say put in a year whatever happens. It will be tough but if you're planning on staying in this industry you need the experience and length of a clean record.
Best wishes and blessings. I'd never trust my life in some one driving me other than an airplane pilot. -
Good luck in your new endeavor!

No need for concern Giggles. That's all behind me, moving on, moving forward.
Met up with the co-driver today for a road test. He showed me how to operate the dolly, set the dolly brakes and release the dolly brakes, get the dolly under the rear trailer, but not hooked up, then back the primary trailer up the dolly and other trailer, and get everything hooked up. It actually wasnt as intimidating as it looked while watching the youtube videos. A couple times and I'll have it down. Just need to make my system, and stick to it.
I was a bit intimidated when I pulled into the FedEx parking lot and saw a truck with a pair of doubles leaving. But as soon as I got a demo on hooking u doubles and we got under way for the road test, it was relatively easy. Granted, I wasn't hauling anything, just a pair of empty doubles. There was no wind either, so she stayed pretty much behind me, and I made sure to gradually change lanes, and slow down well before I was used to with a 53' dry van.
But I passed my road test. Didn't hit any curbs, vehicles, light poles, mud patches or fairings.pattyj Thanks this. -

Well, I had another interview with a local company this morning, and it went very well. They ran my BG check and MVR this morning, and it came back already and they just called and offered me the job. off on weekends unless I want to work Saturdays and make extra money. Driving a flatbed for a construction company. $20-$24 an hour, depending on how many loads I take a day. Mostly home every night, occasionally a night or two out for an extended run to Montana or New Mexico. Sounds like a much better deal to me. DOT and drug screen tomorrow morning, as long as I pass those (which I will) then I have the job and start Monday. No orientation, I'll be with another driver for a few weeks, till I learn the ropes of strapping my stuff down and tarping properly. I don't get released from training with the other driver till I do everything perfectly on my own, without any assistance from him.
Sorry FedEx. I'm taking the flatbed job lol.RACEFAN Thanks this.
