Its the mentallity of most 18 year olds that is concerning us and the saying of "If I can die for my country" would also bring us to why the drinking age is 21 topic that has been around forever and a day. Those that do go into the military are already showing some kind of responsbility for their lives by trying to inprove them. If they open up interstate to all 18 rear olds you would have a lot more going into trucking and possibly killing someone than taking a job they may not want, but it would give them more experiance in life to prove that they do not know it all. Cause right now they all think they are invincible and know all there is to know, they all want to show off and go faster with no respect towards anyone else, and with a loaded rig I would not want to be near them. I have personally witnessed todays 18 year olds do stupid things repeatedly. Examples being its raining and some kid in a brand new Ford pickup already missing its front bumper flooring it coming out of a MacDonalds and spins out repeatedly on a road in a busy area right next to 75. Then multiple times of these kids using taking their daily drive vehicles off road and sinking them in mud blowing out rear ends and transmissions, then expecting someone else to either pay to fix it or let them use another vehicle until they can get theirs fixed.

Now the question is though would you or your family like to be on the road with someone driving a rig so poorly taught how to drive from the begining as well?

You can join at 17 with written permission from your parents or legal gardian, but you cannot be deployed into combat before you're 18

I agree.....18 year olds should not be fighting wars. The reason they don't send us 40-60 year olds with one foot in the grave out there is because the officers are afraid of friendly fire.

Sometimes, the responsibility brings with it the maturity required.
