I didn't catch where the OP actually asked about a PETE glider from FITZ..... But I would also rank KUSTOM as a great place also, plus they have the Elusive 575 hp Detroit ...which will be in my next glider!!!
They have that monster now with no core needed!!

Wow. And all I had to do was pay $300 to get a 550 hp 12.7 Detroit 60. But it is still shy by 25 hp. Oh well. Probably won't miss what I don't have.

    cowpie,

I am sure you know the 575, 14 litre 1850 tq. is a factory rated at that....the point is if you add a tune, coated and port/polished manifold (as we both have done to our 12.7), youd be in the 650 and 2100tq with minimal work...Having spoken to a few driver with this monster, they were pretty excited about them. I suppose as happy as you and myself are with our purchases, but at a similar cost, for sure my next motor will be that one. The torque is what get me excited this 14l is the same bore as 12.7 but longer stroke can you image the pulling power!!

I know this is a pretty old thread, but did you end up getting this truck? Just curious, I thought all the 14.0L Detroits were EGR motors. Isn't this what's trying to be avoided by going the glider route? On the other hand, that 14.0L with an EGR delete, fixed geometry turbo vs. VGT and a little tune would be a PULLING MACHINE I'm sure!!!!!

They built a 14.0L DDEC IV PRE EGR motor, one of the best kept secrets in the marketplace.

Apparently so!!! Is this also available with a non VGT? How does it compare to your builds vs. say a C-15? Do they do as well with fuel mileage and longevity as their 12.7 counterparts?

Fitz preferred using the 12.7, and it was mentioned in another thread when I asked the question.

The big rating was 575 from the factory available in FL, and the others were 525 and 550 horsepower.

    Heavy drive train required.

I got a 2016 Westernstar lowmax glider ordered. It should be here this month. I've always had cats and they have treated me well.
This new truck I ordered is coming with a 14 L 550/1850 Detroit series 60.
I hope I like it, because it's gonna have some big shoes to fill compared to my cat. Lol.
I could of got the 12.7 but I thought it would be a bit of a let down in the power department compared to the 6nz I've been driving. It was only $2500 more to spec the big bore. Time will tell.

Who's doing the build? What are the rest of the specs on the truck?

This is my second star glider I have done. My last one I ordered in as a rolling glider. I put a 2ws 550 3406e in that one.

The 2016 I ordered as a powered glider. I have set of 40x meritor axles with full 4 way lock up with 3:55 gears, along with a rtlo18913a ready to go in.
I do all my own work myself. Only stuff I farm out is getting the drive line built and having truck aligned when it's done.
