We actually get a few Fitz trucks in our shop from time to time, always just for services or warranty on the KW side. The quality of work is always great. Every driver I've been able to talk to with a glider absolutely loves it. We had one guy with a 750 HP D60 a few months back, and that was one mean #####.
Gliders are technically legal, via loopholes in the emissions laws. Don't ask how but they are. You just can't drive them into California.

3 different dealers that i buy parts from stated that the Fed emissions will change in 2018/2019 and they all stated that gliders and non emission "pre 2004" will not be allowed on the road.
2 out of the three do gliders.
I am looking for another truck and a glider seems to be the way to go but if this is true it could be a costly mistake.
Anyone else ever hear of this? -

Too bad we can't get them into canada any more.

I live in Vancouver bc Canada.
People here are still building lots of them. No problems. -
let's start buying aftermarket parts then.

Think of it for a minute. Do you know how many 2004 and older trucks will still be pounding up and down the road. Not to mention the countless gliders that have been built over the past 10 years. If they were now banned from the road there would be a lot scrap iron laying around. It would never happen. Just another rumor, crazy talk.
What I can see happining thou is a ban on building gliders period. That can happen and probley will eventually. -
I'm sure everyone with a 2004 or older truck is just going to hang up their keys at that point. The push to lower emissions was driven by california, and they can't produce the numbers to back up the information saying that the changes needed to happen.

Think of it for a minute?
LOL
Your response to my post was EXACTLY what i said to the three dealerships!
I got the impression from them that they think its a good idea, probably because they would be overwhelmed with sales. -
The dealer ships want to sell trucks not gliders. There is so much miss information out there on gliders it's unreal.
There is certain rules and regulations that have to be followed but as long as you do everything by the book it's totally legit.
What is not legit thou is taking a 2004 up emision truck and yanking all the crap off the engine and doing all the deleated Vgt,egr, dpf blah blah ....
i can see that being a serious problem for some people in the near future. Maybe that's what your dealer was more aiming towards.Ukumfe Thanks this.
