What a small world. I used to work on the phone system for Sherman Dixie in Nashville. They do not have a choice about the chains through the pipe. It is regulation that you have to.

If you think that load looks like fun.... Wait until you end up with a mixed load

2 ea 72" manholes, 4 each 48" manholes, 2 each 30" manholes, 12 each 12" pipe and about a dozen adjusting rings that you can not see in the photo.skellr Thanks this. -
It's on a day cab. You're lucky someone even tried to secure it. I'm pretty sure the usual procedure is to roll without securement all together.
-
So what are you saying, that guys that drive day cabs are not safe or inferior to you somehow? If so you are in for a big argument.
That photo I posted above is hooked to a day cab and there are 13 chains and 5 straps on that load. -
That's exactly what I'm saying. *most* day cabs drivers, wouldn't bother with 18 pieces of securement.
-
Aw, that's cute. Hatin' on daycabbers cause we get to go home most nights or what? Hell son, I haul multiple loads a day all OS/OW and gross up to 160,000lbs. I sling anywhere from 2500 to 5000lbs. of chains and binders daily, depending on what I'm hauling. In over 15 years never had a load so much as move an inch. But if hating on daycabs ("most" anyway) makes you sleep better......Sweet dreams!cnsper Thanks this.
-
LOL Now that is funny. I would put any of our 12 day cabs against your sleeper any day. Oh wait a minute.... Profile says WannaBe! You don't have a sleeper do you?
Heck I know a van driver doing P&D that secures his loads.... DOT checked him once recently and he passed.Mudguppy Thanks this. -
Fellas a bulkhead or headache rack will not stop anything with some weight or speed behind it,don't get a false sense of security with one on your truck, they are for your truck just like that plastic thing on your head, the hard hat,BUMP protection only
-
Fluff if you don't take that local job because some yahoo says it's not secured correctly one day you will question yourself for not taking it,the company has been in that game for a long time and know what is required to haul their stuff, don't listen to some internet know it all trucker to make your decision, one reason why I don't hang out in truck stops or for that matter like supertruckers
