I drove for Marten for a year, until I Left for surgery. It is the best of the big companies. If drivers use the Qualcomm right, and manage their 70 it really works well. They do pay all scale tickets scanned in w/ trip. They always got me home on time. When I had mechanical/maintenance problems, they were fixed. Drivers must be willing to do the job required, PTI, on time p/u, delivery and yes you should Qualcomm your DM and let him know time stuck loading, unloading. If the Driver doesn't, notify DM driver will not be paid. The Company teaches drivers in orientation how to make sure they get paid. They do pay for layover/ breakdown pay. Remember, your truck makes you money, but you have to communicate and document what you have done to get paid. Also, if you are OTR with these bigger companies, you usually stay out for 3-4 weeks, home time 2-3 days, than its time to turn & burn.Trucking isn't a job, it's a life style and it isn't for everybody.

I was averaging 2800-3200 miles a week cosistently w/ Marten. If the driver becomes a problem, they will not get miles, and they will be unhappy. This is true with all trucking companies big and small. Theres always england...

a lot has changed since I last posted on here yes I was very unhappy over the road I have now gone to a regional position I get plenty of miles I am very happy with my driver manager and as far as Marten itself they seem to be a good company as long as you are not over the road and have nothing to do with Mondovi Wisconsin. if you are looking to come to Marten my only suggestion is to avoid Mondovi Wisconsin it may be the headquarters but you will be treated like garbage you will not get any miles. but stick with a regional position you will be treated like an individual you will have one on one contact with your driver manager and you will be heard. this is just my experience everybody has their opinion.

After you've been at Marten over a year with a clean record you will get a new truck. It takes a while to learn the system. If you can stick it out for a year I think you will like it. I've been there 3+ yrs

Average 2500. But you will need to be proactive and communicate with your fleet manager. If a load doesn't work for you. Let him know why. Also if you get a load with too much time on it, look to drop it at a terminal or drop yard. Again, this will have to be communicated early. You can't wait till the last minute.

Sounds perfect for me. That's how I operate. Tired of being otr and only getting 2800 miles and only seeing my kids once a month.
