If you're not going to carry it, why you wouldn't I don't know, but if so, take pictures of it and have on your phone, in case.
Can any experienced driver confirm this?

you best be carrying it.
technically, we don't need to anymore. but i'm still getting asked for mine. although, 3 years ago. i renewed my card and licensed, faxed it to office and hit the road, forgetting to grab both cards from my printer scanner. indiana pulled me over. but didn't give me any lip for not having the new cards. and the old ones were both expired. so i'm obviously in the system. but to this day, i'm still getting asked for my card. and i've got 5 weeks to go through the joys of renewing my med.
i shoudl probably go in today. in case i'm determined to have sleep apnea. or some other BS. with the new regs now. -
Two years ago new York said I was in the database, last year north Dakota said I was in the data base, last month Idaho said I wasn't in the database, I carry my long form and card.
-
Easy solution....just carry it.
-
They don't give them out anymore, but I'll carry my (now expired) one just for fun.

Laws are changing all the time,DOT can't even keep track of all of them.I would have in your possession the med card as well as the long form just to be on the safe side.

Fed Ex Ground has signs at most of it's hubs stating that DOT card is required to receive your paperwork for trailers. Now, I've NEVER been asked for mine except once when we had to fill out our yearly violations reports. I had to go back out to the truck to get it because it along with my CDL were in my wallet in the truck, not in my back pocket

All it is to me is just a new worry. I have to worry that some sloth-like curmudgeon of a government DOT employee will properly match my med docs I email in with my CDL. I doubt their failure rate is 0%.
It's just one more thing I have to double check when it comes due.
I have never been asked to show a med card at a roadside. Maybe cuz I'm such a shining example of healthiness. -
i still carry mine last time i was inspected they did not ask for it however. to my understanding you are no longer required to carry it but it does not hurt to carry it anyway

I got a level 3 in IN a couple of weeks ago and made a comment to the lady trooper about not needing one anymore. Good thing I had it cause she wasn't aware of the new rule. Be a silly reason to be put OOS over something like that now, wouldn't it?
