Power inverter?

Get at least a 1500 watt and you should be good

 

just make sure that you pay attention to the max output and the regular output. max output at 1500 or whatever watts looks good on paper but in reality it doesn't do you much good. just make sure that the normal running output is slightly bigger than the total number of watts of the load your trying to run.

 

You will need a 'pure sine wave' inverter, otherwise your microwave will not work correctly. The cheap ones produce a 'modified sine wave' that will cause your microwave to overheat and shut down. Cheaper is not always the best choice.

Some brands of pure sine wave inverters are Xantrex, Tripp Lite and Sunforce.

 

A 1500 watt inverter may not truly be 1500 watts. It may more likely be 1200 watts continuos and 1500 surge. Personally if it is your truck I would run a 2000 watt. Then your safer if you decide to run something else like a tv, or a electric shaver, or maybe a house fan on those really hot days.

 

You dont need 2000 watts for any of thise items. A 150 watt inverter is more than enough for a tv and maybe a small table fan

 

I would look at the back of your microwave, there should be a sticker on it somewhere saying how many watts it pulls. and I would definitely go with a pure sine inverter, that way you can run laptops and other electronics without worrying. almost everything electrical has some type of circuit boards in them anymore, its getting ridiculous

 

I ran a laptop off a modified sine wave. Never had a problem. Laptop power supply isnt direct. Chargers have a converter on it which means you dont need pure sine pre-conversion. Really anything that runs off a battery doesn't need pure sine...
