Can't get a aluminum sub on a Timpte with a triple. Unless something changed that I'm not aware of. I have front and rear lifts and it took engineering two months to get it approved...so says the salesman.

All we've ever owned are Timptes but anymore I'm not to impressed with them, seems like if Wilson comes out with something Timpte does it 6 months later. Wilson & cornhusker offer 53' trailers & quad axles while Timpte only makes them up to 50' with either a spread or triple, just seems to me that all Timpte wants to build are "farm" trailers while other manufacturers will build what you want the way you want. When it comes time for a new trailer I don't know what I'll get.
-
The one thing that Wilson doesn't offer or that I could find is the front and rear enclosure. This in my opinion should be standard equipment. I also wanted stainless sides another option that Wilson dosen't offer. Just small things but thats the way I wanted it and everyone is different. I do think that the Timpte trailers are just as good as the Wilsons. Again just my opinion.

I agree, you'll never get a "perfect" trailer. Wilson used to offer stainless sides but even then they weren't as shiney as the Timptes. My only complaint on the Timpte is the subframe cross members rusting out or cracking, other than that we've had no trouble with the 8 Timptes we've had over the years. The one thing I hate about a Wilson is the belt drive traps but I think they offer the rack & pinion/gear drive traps like Timpte now.

Well the trailer I traded on this was an '08 Timpte and I have no complaints with it. I guess that had something to do with staying with Timpte also

Timpte will build whatever you want but you have to talk to the right person. I've had alot of trouble getting trailers bought thru them. The one before the my current trailer I bought direct from the factory because I couldn't get the salesman to do their job. The last one I called Scott to put a fire in their rear. I called first of February and picked it up in June. Then they forgot to install the hangers and flaps behind the tandems. Three more calls to get them sent to me. I don't like how the Wilson's are built. I spent 20+ years working in engineering and don't care for how they do things. But alot of people like them....

I am a Timpte guy myself but one thing that I like on a Wilson is that they offer lights in the rear that are mounted in the top header for stop/turn signals. That really helps when your following another trucker with that option is you can see if they are turning or stopping in snowy conditions on the highway or dusty gravel road or let's say you are cresting a hill and he is on the other side going to turn or stop you have more time to react. But like you guys said each has their different ideas. In ND you see lots of old and next to new Timptes but am starting to see more new wilsons going up and down the road.
-
Do you think if a guy ordered a new Timpte they would do the rear lights in the top header? I know I would have them add that for sure.
-
Timpte offers that light option also. It's not the one I picked but from a safety standpoint I think it's a good idea.
Fishell Trucking and SAR Thank this. -
I will look on mine and see if it has that. I thought the last time I seen a new Timpte @ the elevator that it had the stop turn lights up top. I just figured that was standard. Now I will have to look on mine. I did order this one and as I said just thought that was standard. I will look because I think that is a good deal also.
