When I went through orientation one guy had a 98 Kenworth. They let him lease on with it because it looked really clean. Oakley can be picky about appearance.

Yes appearance is the big thing there, keep it clean and your face shaved
Mooseontheloose Thanks this. -
Plague the truck requirement is now a fairly late model but has to look good with good maintence,a truck with 3different colors that aren't in a design will not pass inspection, like a white truck with a red hoos because someone ran it over,or lots of body damage
Mooseontheloose, trucker91 and plague300 Thank this. -
I figured as much and completely understand, agree. I'm looking at them (oakley)

They definitely have a reputation of nice stuff on the road, I'm not sure that under their current advertised rates that I can be profitable, unless of course I'm missing something, guess I need to call

There are guys there with brand new trucks,a friend of mine bought a Fitzgerald glider and brought it over
Mooseontheloose and plague300 Thank this. -
I was a bit skeptical about making money, I came over from Mercer and used to see $2+ a mile. Over here though they PAY ME to run empty, and I don't have a trailer payment or trailer maintenance to worry about. My 3rd week here and I can say that I'm making money. I know 3 weeks isn't much road time to really judge a company so take it for what it's worth.
My dispatcher won't let me sit, if he doesn't see anything around me to load he has no problem running me empty to where I CAN load something.Mooseontheloose and plague300 Thank this. -
Jpracer1: I see em', that's what has me wondering
Kc8yhk: guess that's the difference I'm not "seeing" -
Been here over 5 years. There's not much held out of your check. Last weeks check had $56 held out. That was for phy DMG, occ acc( like workman's comp), trip pak, bobtail, and January's fuel tax.
I'm not counting my fuel cost as hold out. We get a good fuel discount at loves and truck o mat in NLR. Others are a certain amount off the pump price.whatd, Mooseontheloose and plague300 Thank this. -
kc8yhk and jpracer1....
Please update with any new info about your thoughts and feelings about your decision on Oakley. In fact... PM me if y'all will. I have been thinking about "pulling that trigger"/buying a truck, and going with them now for about a year and a half. I've been in contact with Nick... he actually calls me about every 3 months ... I guess he'd really like me to come on.
It seems like a very good company overall. I really have to justify the money more than anything. For instance... I bring home (net) $800 + a week, some weeks less and a few weeks a little more. So... I know the variables... but need to know the honest average a hopper bottom O/O will make. I will be in the Oklahoma Division out of Catoosa. And, is there any truth to the fear I've heard of the son taking the company a different direction for the worse?
If any of you can help me with any info... it would be greatly appreciated!!
