I do swings inside truck most times, the Cascadia has plenty of room, I have done snatches too in the past inside but do not think its a safe exercise for shoulders anymore. You probably won't believe but I do double kettlebell swings with two 35#ers between the seats as well with full range of motion and space. Now I wish I had the room for a full Turkish getup as I'd like to learn that skill in the future, I've done it without a kb in the grass for testing.

I like those rest stops in Texas with the pull-up bars and soft mat on the ground that is green, if you ever go by one and hear someone on cb advertising a pullup contest it might be me lol. I try to offer a box of Twinkies to the winner to get some bait, never had a person come for it though.

I have a story about ketosis and it goes to show how ignorant the medical community is on this state.
Im talking many years ago and even I didn't know much about it, but when I went for my med card they did the usual urine test and found ketones in it.
The nurse basically freaked out..."OMG, she said, you got ketones". I'm thinking..So?
When the doc came in he asked me if I'd been starving myself. Now I was getting a tad irritated because they wouldn't tell me what was up. Eventually he told me my condition was a prerequisite for diabetes!!! I told him....No fricking way. I know my body, and I know what causes diabetes.
But unfortunately I wasn't as educated on this topic as I am now. He was adamant I had a "serious" condition.
bottom line as most of us will now know he got his wires all mixed up. He was referring to "Keto-acidosis" which is totally different. I should've asked him to do a blood sugar level test but I wasn't to know at the time.
I had to come back the next Monday and he told me to clean out my kidneys. What a crock.
Now to be safe and to protect myself from the ignorance I'll step out of "ketosis" when I know I have to go for my 2yr. So I step up the carb intake a touch. I even have ketone strips just to make sure I'm in the clear.
Sometimes it's best to outsmart such a mindset. Ketosis is a very interesting state to be in and shows the efficient way in which the liver works. A very vital organ in order to process the foods we eat.
BTW, I'm a bit surprised you didn't lose weight with ketosis. But if you eat too much protein that can scupper weight loss. It's a delicate balance.
    Good luck.

IMHO I think the "Paleo diet", all the fad, is based on some rather improbable assumptions regarding what our ancient hunter/gatherer ancestors ate. Methinks there's way too much emphasis on the hunter end of things and not enough emphasis on the gatherer end of things.

The nearest current analysis of hunter/gatherer gut bacteria seem to bear this out. The American Gut Project has been analyzing gut bacteria of people all around the world. It's interesting to note that the gut bacteria of populations that predominantly eat fruits and vegetables closely match the gut bacteria of indigenous tribes in the Amazon. It is extremely rare for these populations to experience degenerative diseases like diabetes, cancer, or the like.

A few years ago there was news of finding 10,000 year old human caprolites (fossilized turds) in Antelope Cave in Arizona. When they analyzed them they found that their diet was predominantly vegetable matter, like Yucca plants and cactus. Compared to the modern recommended fiber intake of 40 grams per day, they were eating 400 grams of fiber per day.

Even the Innuit (eskimo), which are often cited as a prime example for eating a predominantly meat based diet, gorge themselves on fresh plants from the tundra during the short summer and dry as much as they can for the winter.

By weight I'd say about 80-85% of my current diet is fresh raw fruits and vegetables. For probiotics I eat a quart of plain yoghurt each week. I've pretty much reduced my intake of juice of any kind to maybe a liter a week, and that's carrot juice because it is so low in sugar. I want all my sugars and most of my carbs to come from the fibers in fruits and vegetables. I go through about a half liter of organic olive oil each week, and I've started to add sesame oil, and walnut oil as well. It's amazing how full I feel after eating a salad packed with fresh herbs and dark greens with oil and vinegar as the dressing. Usually my one big salad of the day is for dinner, but if I have it for breakfast before driving I won't get hungry until at least my 30 minute break and sometimes for the entire shift.

Regarding concerns about diabetes or insulin related issues and eating fruit, eat grapefruit or other fruits that are low on the glycemic index. You can look up GI charts for more information.

Ha ha that made me laugh, the level of ketones to indicate keto acidosis is far and above what you would get on a ketogenic diet.

I asked my doctor about ketosis and he mailed me some blurb off the first website he could find, basically had no clue. It has been used for a century now to treat epilepsy.

I think calories still count a little in ketosis, I was probably overdoing it a little.

Most Paleo, ancestral diet people also cite current hunter gather tribes, and I don't think anyone is saying you shouldn't eat vegetables. Everyone is different as well and what works well for one may not for another. I disagree that it's a fad diet and don't really like the word diet anyway. Eating clean meat, organic fruit and veggies, taking it easy on dairy or cutting it out if it disagrees with you, isn't that how are grandparents ate before the diabesity, heart disease epidemic?

Now here's an odd thing that would be devastating for a professional driver: auto-brewery syndrome.

Seems that in addition to bacteria in our gut we also have yeast. The problem starts when people take antibiotics, killing off their normal gut ecosystem and allowing brewer's yeast to flourish in the gut.

The more I read about gut ecosystem the more I'm inclined to never take antibiotics again if I can help it.

Agreed, doctors hand out antibiotics like candy. I refuse to take them, I will get better eventually and my immune system will be all the stronger for it. Not enough kids playing in the dirt these days, bolstering their immune systems.

That high fructose corn sirup is dangerous stuff. I get severe joint pain as soon as it hits my blood stream. Regular sugar isn't much better.

Even artificial sweeteners aren't safe. One thing that struck me after reading Dr. Atkins' book way back in 2002, he claimed that the artificial sweeteners worked directly against any weight loss, no matter what kind of diet/ plan/ lifestyle one chose to follow.

This HFCS trend is not going away anytime soon. When you look at it closely, it's the Govt that's responsible for the proliferation of this stuff.
Big conglomerates want to drive the cost of producing food down so the Govt gives the producers massive farm subsidies to abandon other crops and grow more and more corn. BTW one of the reasons you may have got sick, is that corn is Genetically Modified, in other words the structure of it has been changed in the lab to be resistant to herbicides etc and have a longer shelf life, and even grow quicker. All this can play havoc with your health. As I've stated before, GMOs are banned in many countries but here, the big boys get away with producing them without impunity.
The FDA is toothless and does nothing. They've been "bought" too.
It's the Old Boy network as usual. And corn is used not only to produce corn syrup but as feed and a multitude of uses. We even feed cattle corn and cows are not meant to be fed corn, only grass. Just a cheaper option. And that's why we have a massive increase in obesity and diabetes. Too much sugar and HFCS....Not only is it affecting adults, but children too. It's an absolute scandal !!
And what does the Govt say? Oh we are eating too much FAT!! Just look at their bogus "food pyramid" It's a joke. Therefore they have brainwashed us into thinking that Cholesterol is the culprit. They know very well what's going on, but the corrupt ways of the food industry and lobbying maintains the status quo. It's as if they want us to be fat and sick.
We have to take control of what we eat. To fight back and defeat the evil ways of big business.
Stop consuming HFCS is a good start but it's only the beginning.
