All I know is on our trucks, the SWR will drop every single time when you remove the antenna on the same side if you are running the mirror bird perch mount. I never said anything about if you run an antenna on the rear of the cab. But I've tried that too and it doesn't effect the SWR if you leave the factory antennas.

So post some pictures.........
I lost a Francis 5x5 on the RR bridge in Memphis on I-55. I just screwed it into the mount on the back of the sleeper of the truck I was assigned that day because the driver was using one of the factory antennas and the SWR was high. I though it looked a little tall, but didn't take the time to measure it. I never thought of it again until I was approaching that bridge. I knew it was low and wondered........sure enough, one Francis 5x5 shattered! -
I let the cb shop choose the antenna, so tbh I don't know what antenna. Radio is a cobra 29 lx
Someone remind me how to post pics on here and I will. -
Well, to post pictures you have to click "go advanced", then click on "manage attachments". You should be able to get it done after that.

You probably should have gone over the I-40 river bridge instead. It would have been a little out of the way but you would have saved your antenna since it's quite a bit higher. That I-55 bridge should have been replaced years ago. Once you cross the river on I-40, take the first Memphis exit which is Riverside drive south and it'll turn into I-55 South.OceanDan Thanks this.
