I thought so too, but once you get bitten by the horsepower bug it just wont stop. I am propably a little over 1000 at the engine.
-
Gotta balance what you want for horsepower with what you want for reliability.
Don't want to wind up in the middle of nowhere with a blown engine for the sake of power.
As long as it gets me where I'm going in one piece. -
don't beat it, it won't blow

Imagine how much more fuel that 1000hp uses.
-
Would you be surprised if i told you that its less than your 475?
-
a well tuned motor will be more efficient at 475 hp then a strangled one that maxes out there. just gota learn how to use it and not run around with our foot in it. Sure 1000hp uses a ton of fuel. but how often do you need that 1000 hp? you'r running around using 400 to 500 most the time
-
Yup I would.
Do you run OTR? -
Yes i do, west coast and back.
MM is right, ill cross a 6% grade grossed out at half throttle doing 70mph # 1700-1800rpm without breaking a sweat. -
if you take it to the cat shop tell them NOT TO TOUCH THE EPA SPECS!!!!!! YOUR TRUCK WILL BEGIN TO RUN HORRIBLE AFTER THAT AND YOUR MPG WILL DROP TO BELOW 5
