Hi, my name is Van Montgomery and I'm new here ! I'm a Tennesseean and I currently work two jobs......I want to get into trucking. I love and enjoy driving greatly ! There are a number of jobs I've seen that grabbed my interest. All driver jobs. Most of the ones that I come across require you to at least already have a class A permit to get in the door. I'll be studying whatever I can find in an effort to hopefully get my permit . Some of the stuff I've come across looks complex........probably because it's new to me. Well, got to get back to work......

Are you able to attend CDL school or do you want a trucking company CDL school?

I'm going to go to a CDL school. I wanted to see if I could do it myself......study the book then go take the test. School is probably the safer bet.

Yes, you're correct; school is best. Trucking companies want CDL graduates due to insurance requirements.
The best money for a new driver is tankers. Schneider Bulk might pay for CDL school and CTL Transportation has their own CDL school. Check the websites. It's easy to earn $60K+ per year driving tankers.

Welcome! There is definitely a wealth of information here. Just got my permit recently, and heading off to school very soon. Practice tests seemed to help me...
