You can set the night time switch over to a delay. General/Day Night Auto switch offset.

This issue was noted on Sunday and submitted to be corrected. The folks came in Monday and looked at the issue and corrected the code as of this afternoon.

Latest word is either late tomorrow or Wednesday for the update to fix this issue.

Nuff said about this issue. Nothing more can be done. It has to go thru QA testing before being released.

    Thanks,
    Mark

OK. I appreciate the information and I really hope that thus matter will be fully resolved. If it was just a DST error, then perhaps I went overboard. I am not fully convinced about the changing time zone issue being resolved by this, since, again, you stated that the GPS app time is slaved to the tablet time and the tablet cannot automatically change time zones (or I could be wrong and the GPS app compensates for this.

    Again, just frustrated.

Is there any plan to have the GPS app get its time from GPS sats? I have heard about issues with "time drift" on Android tablets without cellular network access...

Being an Ex-IT person these things should not affect you so much. I work with new software daily, issues found, duplicate, issues fixed.

The interaction between the Truck GPS app and the tablet is done with API's, the Truck GPS does not need the Wi-Fi part of the tablet to run. This was simply a DST issue and affected nothing else.

    Thanks,

Here it is in a nutshell. It involves US 129 crossing the NC/TN border. The Western North Carolina page shows US 129 as being "non-truckable" starting at Robbinsville, but the Eastern Tenessee map shows it to be truck legal to the North Carolina state line.

The road apparently has been placarded because it is NOT a safe road for trucks because of the narrow, sharp curves, requiring the trailer to take over the oncoming lane. This has resulted in many accidents, including fatalities. The problem is that once a truck is on that road, turning around is not possible. Having an error in the atlas is unacceptable. Apparently, the GPS maps also show it as truck legal, which it is not.

They have released the map updates for those of us running Macs. Started to download mine and had a couple of hiccups. Called RM support and the issues were resolved and my 520 was updated with the new map set in about 45 minutes. I appreciate the good support both here from Mark and from RM.

Audible speed warnings still do not work for truck speed limits, though the speed display does turn red.

NC banned trucks longer than 30' on the dragon in 2011. TN didn't ban trucks on it until December 2014 -- well after the 2015 maps came out.

RM knows about this speed warning. It is build on the posted speed limit and since a lot of truck speed limits are still missing in the db they had to go with a norm. It has been discussed at detail and nothing is quite right to give what RM what's to put in the product.

    Thanks,

    Mark,

After reading the posts, the recent update seems to have a common issue; system file missing. I, too, have the same problem with my 720 (added the recommended minimum 8gb SD card, class 2) and the unit has now become a brick. I've tried all the different recommended solutions offered by Rand in their FAQ's but to no avail. I have written to tech support but no reply yet. The live chat is useless and times out after 1/2 hour. This is possibly because the lines are overwhelmed.

What is the problem and what is Rand doing to fix it and when?

In order to resurrect this unit, I need the pre-update files. Backups only keep user data like address and POI's so that's not an option. Sending the unit back to Rand so they can re-install the pre-update files isn't an option IMHO. In this age of electronics, many companies set up a special partition with the appropriate downloads via a hyperlink. Your feedback to the user community is always appreciated.

I turned my speed warning off.
Or well set it to alert only at 75+.
Speed limits are inaccurate too often to make that useful.

When you get time and are on a high speed internet connection let me know. I will have you install Teamviewer and I will remote into your computer and resolve the issue.

No system files usually means in this case it is seeing the internal NaviMap folder which has the needed file deleted.

I suggest if you have downloaded the new maps to move them over to your PC and buy a 8gb class 10. A class two is only 2mb/sec versus 10mb/sec.

You can PM me and I will receive and E-Mail.

Again I will work with the hour you are available.

    Thanks,
    mark
