Many companies will take you for their training program.
You seem to have your mind made up for Swift which is OK, but there's lots of other choices too.
    Submit some online applications.

I agree. It's a joke that every driver is drooling for an LTL or local job. They can take all those jobs and stuff'em.

Hey !!!! I resent the stuff em part..lol..Not every driver "fits" for every driver job..I cant do local city, OTR was brutal from my POV..love LTL night work.. One thing l miss now is going to an over crowded truck stop and standing in long lines to take a dump..

Best thing about OTR...you can just stop, crank up the AC on a hot lazy summer afternoon and just take a nice nap whenever & where ever you are when you feel just a little sleepy

I guess LTL is a good balance between local and OTR.
OTR works well for me because when I hit the highway, prefer a long drive running coast-to-coast. Stayed worn out running local so didn't stick with it; hated it.

One of the companies that shaped me. It was a bus driver in a orientation class. He had to train. If u decided to go with swift its simply a starter company. I attended swift training b4 and the mentor as they like being called just used me for miles and didn't teach me s#!^. I was assigned to the Memphis terminal. My trainer was so lazy I attended a class there that helped me learn how to back up and control my truck. All though it interrupted my rest it was worth it. They give u different types of backing scenario that we encounter. Just be careful in picking training company because after u finish training they can only keep so many because of truck availability. If u are one of the unlucky ones like myself with swift. No trucks were available when I finished training because there was a lot of students graduating at same time. I eventually went with a different company and had to train all over again because I didn't know how to drive a 13spd that's what the company ran. So good luck. Just stay far far away from CRE they are a joke I did that one too. Unless u want to lease.
