I'm usually gone for 2 weeks sometimes less. I can't stay on a road for more than that cause then I'm getting some "mental" problems, feel lonely, depression, etc... Lol. Usually stay home for 3-5 days. Sometimes get home every week though. Also I'm going somewhere for vacation (inside and outside of US) few times a year (up to 4 times a year). This year I was on vacation twice already (NYC and Miami) 10 days each time. Also I'm planning to fly to Russia this August for 3 weeks this year. But my truck is paid off so I can afford that much of work-free time. Well I guess I have a life beside my truck even though I love truckin'!!!

With the mortgage paid and the truck loan taken care of... I'm home for 6 days every 15 days. Basically work two full weeks and then take off one.

I don't do 'hometime'. Hometime is when a dispatcher or desk jockey schedules to be home. I go to the house. That's when I tell them that I will call when I am ready to leave the house. There IS a difference.

Yeah, whatever, Six...You know what I mean. Anyway, how often you get home?

Depends on the money. Had a few round robins on some big loads that were paying $10/mile for 318 miles. 3 loads one week, 2 loads the next. Ever been to a strip club? When they're throwing money at your arse, you keep your arse onstage. You go home when the money stops. The money stopped right before Christmas. Since Christmas, I have been home about 10 weeks, but was out about 4 months (it was a really good year).

You have some owner ops that will have $5grand hit the bank one week, $5grand the next, and then they go home. Why? You might get another $5grand in the bank account.get the money while it's there...it's not always gong to be there. If you're a road driver, grab all the money you can before you go to the house. THEN make them pay you to leave the house.

Well I am out as long as it takes for the wife to cool down and forget what an idiot she married and then I sneak right back home as fast as I can !!
Last year it took 105 days of me hiding on the road for her to cool down and let me back in :biggrin_255:.
Some weeks it took all week and others just a day or two.
Some times it takes her a few weeks to get aggravated enough to chase me off .

It has worked for us for the last 35 years .

    2duisperyear Thanks this.

I also would like to thank everyone for their input. I would like to buy a truck because I like driving but don't want to be gone for long periods of time. I'm glad to see how different the schedules can be.
