They are a viable company and they continue to be here! I think most folks are just bashing them..... They are like the Pollack Jokes of the '70's....no one takes it seriously. I am a blonde...I hear all of them...

Well, I saw a May driver (million plus accident free) back into one truck and then sideswipe another at a distribution center all in the amtter of 5 minutes. I have seen drivers from several other companies back into people. I watched a flatbedder (independent) cut it to close a put his load of lumber and the rail through the back door of someone else's trailer. It ain't just Swift. Anyone can have that happen to them. Rather than chiming in the same oooollllldddd chorus why not be helpful. If you see someone having a problem backing, rather than putting them down on the CB why not offer to give them some pointers? Remember you were once a newbie and probably had problems backing and manuevering until you got used to it.

It was not a swift who hit me a month or so ago. I know other companies have problems, but I see more swifties hitting and tearing stuff up more than any other co. In the last year I have seen about 20 swifts hit something. Not to mention all the bonehead moves I have seen them do where somehow they managed not to hit something, but mess something up for everyone around them. They are the only co I have ever seen with duct tape holding broken off parts on their trucks....:biggrin_2556: I help people all the time... why not find something to keep yourself from worrying about what I do? I don't put people down on the CB. I post what I see on here.

I've seen lots of duct tape on lots of different company trucks. In fact the Freewheeling show on Sirius gave out awards for the most unique use of duct tape. And you may very well see more Swift drivers hit things but remember 5% of 20K is more than 5% of 3K drivers. So the chances are greater you will see more Swift drivers doing things like that. Plus, a lot of their drivers have less than 5 years experience and are still learning a lot. That is where others can help by offering tips rather than putting down. I work at a truck stop currently and often hear drivers talking someone back over the CB. Problem with Swift is that so many drivers are tired of the rude talk about their company that they keep the CB off. Maybe if it was on and someone was talking them back instead of making a wise crack about their inability to back, they would get more proficient just like the seasoned veterans who usually put them down.

and maybe if they would not make 6 month drivers into trainers and maybe if there is 2 of them in the truck one of them could get out and spot the other one before they back into the truck beside them....:biggrin_2556:

Well, there are two types of drivers in our profession today. Professional drivers and truck drivers. Professional drivers care about industry image and are willing to help others (like the good ole days of trucking). They are courteous and do their jobs in a professional manner. Truck drivers, on the other hand, get the job done but they complain about their company, make fun of other people's company and other drivers and are basically in it for themselves. They are the ones that are constantly putting down companies and other drivers and wouldn't help someone who may be new in the industry because "their company ought to do that for them." They are the ones giving this profession a black eye in the view of the American public.

I choose to be a professional.

I help all drivers when I get a chance and I don't talk talk smack on the radio, but I am not going to put my head in the sand and pretend that swift is a great co either. I have had friends that worked for them one was a trainer for several years for them. I talk with swift drivers all the time on the radio. I don't put them down. The only time I get irrate with them is when I have to beat on their door because they have blocked me in. I have had to get on the radio several times because they were about to take my mirror off. The black eye is when There are 5 spots open side by side and swift hits the truck beside them in broad daylight backing in...:biggrin_2554: Nothing worse than coming into a truck stop and needing to shut down and waiting a half hour for a swift to hit a hole that I could park a spread ax in long ways. I have not always pulled spread axles, but if I can drop a 50.000 lbs coil in a tight hole. ( had a driver tell me I thought you flatbeds could not back when I parked in between 2 trucks that was far from a straight in back) Point is there is a difference in being a new driver and being undertrained. Some guys have no buisness being truck drivers. Face it if you can't get in a hole where there is room for 5 trucks to park and you hit something. Time to go back with a trainer or look for another job. You don't want people to talk bad about swift then tell their company to make sure that their drivers can staright line back in a football field with out going out of the sidelines before they park.
You been driving for 1 year and want to tell me about the good ole days of driving??? LOL

And Swift is the ONLY one who has drivers blocking others in or backing into them. WRONG!

NO, but I see them hit more things than any other co. I see them do more stupid stuff than any other co. Bad training, poor screening, whatever, but I know what I see sorry that you don't like people telling what they see....
