Yeah that's what it seems like now a days! I could have got that kind of work done for a lot cheaper. The reason I took it to Volvo is because I was told not to let anyone but a Volvo tech work on Volvo motors. This is what it got me!

I learned my lesson on that one! I will for now on too. I just figured they wouldn't screw up a valve cover gasket. Me thinking that costed me 478 more dollars.

Well in all honesty that kind of problem could have happened at any shop, who knows maybe the guy's phone rang, had to drop a deuce or another mechanic started talking to him. Doesn't make it right, just sayin'....

I worked in a shop for many years. That kind of repair is bush, pure and simple. No professional would have let that truck out of their shop. And the tech who performed the "repair" would have been written up.

Sure it is, I agree with you 100%. But I've seen happen over years and I would guess you have too working in a shop for many years. I can't count the times I've stood there and watched a tech get called over to give another one a hand and come back and scratch his head wondering where he was. Is it professional? Of course not, but it happens plain and simple. You don't see it as much now cuz they won't let you in the shop.

Everyone learns from their MISTAKES so if you do not go back and tell them of their MISTAKE they are never going to learn to improve their work and if the shop has some BACKBONE it will make things right for you $ wise

Exactly, That's the whole reason I am irritated. I can see if I had something complicated done the truck, I understand no one is perfect but that valve cover has to be one of easiest jobs there is on my truck.
