I just had my Eaton Fuller 10 speed replaced last year with a Weller rebuilt. Out the door for $6,200. No clutch needed but new clutch brake. I was given the price up front unless more parts or labor was needed.
Replace transmission & clutch: $16,000?

Last time I was at the local KW dealer ,labor rates were $115hr and anything involving the engine or emissions was pages and hours of "diagnostics" courtesy of their Cummins insight software , and the diesel tech fumbling through it. The bills are so ridiculously high they won't say the price of the repair
at the service desk, they just slide the 5 page repair bill across the counter .I remember a $1900 bill for a $100 heated Def line and a $300 sensor. The last time we had the DPF filter cleaned it was $800 for cleaning and labor . As long as their bays are full and they always are ,their hourly labor rates just keep going higher and higher. The last truck I owned was a cabover Mack I bought from LJ Kennedy in 1996 for $6100 cash with all new tires ,new clutch ,drivers seat ,and 2 full tanks of fuel. I ran that truck everyday for 2 years running grocery loads in NJ and NYC and the 5 Boros and it only broke down once in those two years and it was the impeller in the air compressor. The truck made $4k a week and only did about 500 miles a week and fuel was $1.05 a gallon . I sold it to a Mack dealer for $4k when I gave up driving for a few years and had a couple of restaurants. I currently drive a $150k 2012 W900 company truck that had approx. $20k in out of warranty just emissions and engine related repairs and tow bills just last year and then dropped a liner and blew the engine to the tune of over $40k ( first shop wanted $50k ) 2 weeks before Christmas. With the amount of breakdowns and trips to the dealer and the engine blowing at just 300k miles this truck would have put me out of business . I don't know how the average owner operator survives today with a newer truck and the costs of running it today.iggybest, Brettj3876 and ShortBusKid Thank this. -
they are on here learning how. pre-egr or bust. Too many are also victims of slick oil salesmen. See kevin rutherfrauds thread.

I hear ha. I love when I talk to someone thinking about buying a brand new truck and they were at the dealer and the salesman told them how the new trucks he has are different " and how the Manufacturer worked out those "things" and they are real reliable now. They will say anything they have to ,to move that iron off their lot to make a paycheck! The only new truck I would buy,if I were ever to buy a truck again would be a glider with a pre- emissions engine, until the government outlaws them.

IIRC I was quoted ~$5000 CDN with my 15 OD core last summer so that price is in the ballpark.

Ouch! My alt took a dump this week too but I got a new Delco (they didn't have any other choice) installed in Jolly, TX for $443.
Totally off topic but I've had very good luck with those guys at Jolly Truck and Trailer Repair. Been in there a few times and never felt like they were anything less than 100% fair with me.
